[IMG] Yes, trust your eyes folk! When reading through the board, no one (including me) ever mentioned using halberds. I think there are some quite powerful halberds around, so I´m somewhat surprised about that.

IS THERE ANY ADVENTURER IN WHOLE FAERUN USING HALBERDS?

I used them as special purpose weapons only. I kept the Halberd +4 Dragonsbreath and the Wave.

It might be interesting to try some tactical manuevers with a halberdier. For example having a couple of highly armored and protected guys with shields up front to keep monsters occupied while the halberd guy whacks them from the second rank.

    Concept (party of good types).
    1) Jaheira (weapon and shield)
    2) Anomen (mace and nice protective shield)
    3) Minsc (two handed sword, nice reach)
    4) You (halberd, fighter with high mastery, or barbarian)
    5) Jan (missiles, thievery and spells)
    6) Nalia (magic)

Front two should have highest attainable AC (particularly since they are your clerics) and you may want to use summoned creatures as flank protection or shock troops. Move Minsc forward if one of the clerics needs to hang back and cast spells.

Just a thought, but I might try it.

I found them useful for the same reason. Dungeons tend to get rather narrow at times. When all spells are used up, a spear or halberd gives my second liners (I have 5 of them) a chance to score an occasional hit - none has any proficiency worth mentioning in anything, so it really doesn't matter what they use.

[IMG] I don't use halberds; they make me feel like a gnoll (Kept the head of the Wave, though - looked kinda cool)

I only use them as backup weapons , with there specifications are required , like the dragon halberd.

Unfortunately there are now +5 Halberds in the game , otherwise I think they would be more widely used.

halberds are powerful weapons... just as powerful as Double_Handed Swords and Katanas... i can't understand why i haven't heard more about them.

The Dragons Breath +4 is amazing...

and about +5 weapons.... YOU DON'T NEED THEM FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! CAN'T YOU COPE WITH A +4 ONE DAMMIT! *rant rant rant*

    *cools off*

phew... i am glad i got that out... not everyone needs a +5 weapon... even i can cope with just the normal Hammer of Thunderbolts...

The Wave is a good Halberd but the only other good halberd is Dragon's Breath and Dragon's Bane is good vs. dragons but that's all. I'd rather use two handed sword/two weapons then a halberd. But it's a good quetion, the speed faktor is lower then with a Two-handed sword but I have one 2-handed-weopon-fighter and then I prefer Carsomyr instead of The Wave

Halberds are very good backup weapons for 2nd row characters. I would not recommend using them for any other purpose though. Their high speed factor combined with the fact that it is a 2-handed weapon leaves a character with lesser attacks than dual-wielding and less protection than shield users.
As for +5 weapons, I'm perfectly contented with my Celestial Fury +3. Dumbass paladins who are only impressed by size :D tend to go for Carsomyr. Dual wielding rules man!
