Great Random Scroll Drops

OK now I am back from Underdark, party has 3m xp and a bit more, except Immy, and I was busy in Firkraag's dungeon, I slaughtered the pathetic orcs and hobgoblins there with ease and it was fun.

Now I have a nasty habit of looting, I loot everything and everyone I kill, and to my suprise, those pitiful orcs and hgoblins were carrying nice scrolls.

Other then those I disintegrated, I looted those scrolls from their bodies:

-Friends
-Infravision
-Flesh to Stone
-Protection from Elements
-Mordy Sword
-Improved Mantle
-Abi Dalzim's Horrid Wilting (greatly appreciated!)
-Spell Trap (wow!)

You see, these are a little more than I expected from lowly orcs. I never looted a Spell trap scroll from orcs before though. Is it due to my level being high? Or is it pure luck? I do not think my mods do this, they generally make my game harder.

What have you looted like that in your games? Do you think this random drops are associated with level of the party? I think so.

I wish I hadn't disintegrated other orcs though, they might have been carrying Time Stop scrolls!

 

No, the drops are random. I once got Mordikainen's Sword from a guard in the Copper Coronet, which was probably the second quest I did, after the Circus Tent. You can also very rarely get some pretty nice drops from the goblins in Irenicus' dungeon. I have seen them drop things like scrolls of True Sight, a two handed sword +2, or a large shield +1.

 

I got a Ruby Ray of Reversal scroll from a gobbo in ID in my last game. One of the few spells I didn't have Imoen scribe for party experience (saved it for Jan).

 

I remember getting a Horrid Wilting and Power Word Kill (!!!) in one game from those Ogre types outside of the Umar witch village.

Next game (different characters) thinking this was the norm i went and splatted them again...the normal stuff plus a few crappy gems!

I tried a few re-loads but the realised it must have been random.

 

I once got a Powerword: Kill Silverstar.

I'm waiting for an opportune time to use it.

There has not been a game so far that I have not got at least one level 6 spell or higher from the guards in the copper coronet. Skeleton warriors also seem to be a great source of high level scrolls aswell (I know that I have had a scroll of wail of the banshee from the skeleton warriors in the undead hut in the temple quest)

 

Cool, I was wise to loot eveyrthing than, yes?

By all means, BG2 is a magic-rich campaign, even your standart orc carries a level 9 spell scroll in his pocket occasionaly!
