This is a tragic story of a young English girl that visited the Republican area of West Belfast (Blacks Road) last weekend, only to be raped twice. Not only this, but he also sent a text message to the girls mother using her phone, and then actually call the mother to brag about it.

What makes this worse is that this was that:

1 This happened in daylight in a petrol station court, and then in the grounds of a local golf centre.

2 Local residents have not come forward to police, because it would make them 'un-Republican'/traitors etc and Sinn Féin have not condemned this attack so far (though other Catholic parties such as SDLP have), probably because it was a Republican raping a British girl.

As this is from a local newspaper, I do not have a link to post.

    Edit:

Actually its being covered on BBC, but in less depth.

Rape is always rape and whoever protects a rapist for political reason willingly becomes an accomplice in that crime. No one who uses or even accepts rape as a political tool is in any way justified from the crime, from IRA terrorists to Bush's boys. From armed thugs raping women to prison officials turning a blind eye to what guards do. If local residents really chose to ignore the event for "patriotic" reasons, then the number of accomplices grows considerably and the crime weighs on the whole neighbourhood. They wouldn't be likewise silent if it came to their daughters wandering into the Orangist sectors and getting raped, one can be sure of this.

I suppose the people might be afraid of something happening to them or their daughters... but still, it is a sorry state of affairs that not even one person called the cops. The boys I can somewhat understand, they were threatened, but the rest... I mean, bloody hell, how did every single one of the people that saw or heard of that even know the girl was British, and the whole s..t had anything political about it?
That aside, calling the mother gets a straight, well-deserved A for being a total vicious as$hole. Just what kind of sadistic bastard would do that? This isn't politics or anything, just plain sadism. Frankly, the guy who did it should be castrated (at least) by his own people - unless they want to appear complete sickos, they're better off without him.

Well during the early 80's Catholics that were suspected for being in the IRA did get beaten up by Irish Protestant and English police, though no-where near the extent of what US forces have done in Iraq or Afghanistan(still a terrible thing to happen though), but the police force has gone through major reformes and the police force must be at least 50% Catholic, so there are no excuses for not bringing these bastards to justice.

Yes people in Blacks Road should not want to protect this rapist bastard, he is not the victim here.

:toofar: Point him out and I'll kill him myself.
And the people who are protecting him should be publicly flogged until they pass out.
