    Hi,

Just got the game yesterday. Wasn't expecting it til next week. So I'm stuck now in the complex. I got some energy device but I can't seem to use on some of the victims. Also I've encountered three doors which i can't open or unlock when using Imoen.

[IMG] Well you should be able to use that device by just having it in your inventory when you click on one of those glass jars...
The rest is just using it in all of them until you get all the info you need (talk to the forms that appear in the jars after you activate them). As for the doors, be a bit more specific.

With the doors that I couldn't open said "warded against simple spells" The first door I encountered was when you go to the jailer's room and go through the door and beyond the passage you come to a door. The second is when you kill those dueregar and the only passage leading there is the first door you encounter a similar message is met. And when you go to the cavern with the crystal and where you encounter the djinni, there is a passage to the that leads west to a door with the same message.

    Ah yes...
Well the deal is, you'll have to activate a sewer golem that'll open the doors for you. I think one of the duergar has the golem control stone but I could be wrong. Or you find it in a room somewhere... check everything thoroughly. Then open the closet (well, cave/room) where there's one blind golem in it and use the stone to control him and ask him to start cleaning up. He'll open the doors for you that way.
As for that other lone door, you'll need a figurine to open it. Again, I don't remember where you find it. Possibly in the room of the Jon's deceased lover. But that room is optional and you don't need to access it. Unless you want to get Sarevok's sword... hmmm... I have said too much already ;)

You need to use the golem control device found in the sewers on the table in the room with the singe "jar person" (sorry cant recall his name but you can converse with him). Use the device to activate the golem and he will open all the doors. Your 1st "real" fight will start then :)

Thanks everyone I'm finally out of the complex. Why is this game harder so hard? I'm in crypts and the spiders are so hard to kill. In BG, they were so easy but I'm a higher level in BG2. Oh well ;)

I agree, although not the spiders, but I did notice the beefed up versions of Skeletal Warriors from IWD to BG2 conversion. They are much stronger in BG2 than they were in IWD. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of this.
