George Washington was descended from Charlemagne. Did you know?

It takes 31 generations and is far from direct male line, but the blood is there. Also, all births are legitimate along the way. Here goes it:

From what I've heard, he also had some Stuart connection, but I haven't been able to recover it.

Basically, given so much time and so many generations, it isn't really unexpected. After all, kings' daughters marry dukes whose daughters marry counts whose daughters marry inferior lords whose daughters marry simple knights etc etc. So, basically, if you're related to one you're related to all. Anyway, a nice thing to know, isn't it?

Such things are kinda cool, but as you hinted at I think that if we go that far back I am fairly sure we are all in someway related to some historic figure. I myself fancy myself being related to Alexander, Caesar, Gustav II Adolf and Napoleon but I cant be bothered to check for fear of having my fancies shattered. ;)
