Well, here's a less than flattering review of Throne of Bhaal from GamesDomain. While the final verdict proclaims the expansion a "must-have" the entire article seems to focus on the flaws.

All sounds good, right? Well, it is, but only to a limited point. The main plot is more linear than those featured in the earlier games. In many ways, it more closely resembles Icewind Dale than Baldur's Gate II, though perhaps this is a necessity considering that the designers are attempting to wrap up a saga that's three years in the making. Regardless, being on a forced path to the conclusion - with the exception of a stop-off at Watcher's Keep whenever you feel like it - is something that many fans won't like. Stops along the path can be rather frustrating, as well. Combat takes place much of the time in narrow corridors and cramped rooms where the pathfinding AI has difficulty. This restriction serves to make your battles more difficult that they should be. There's the ever-present feeling that Throne of Bhaal presents the gamer with nothing but set-piece battles, with the enemy and the surrounding terrain carefully arranged to provide the greatest challenge.
