    [IMG] Hey y'all!

I have a problem playing NWN because whenever I play, my character and the environment around him
sort of "lags"(I don't know how else to say it, I'm bad at english) as in it freezes, moves, freezes, moves.... continuously. I REALLY don't know why this is happening, my computer fulfills all of the system requirements.

    Please help

    Thanks

I think you might be experiencing the same thing as I was, though it wasn't that bad in my case... I've never found out what was causing it, but for me, pressing the "Windows" or the other button next to it on the keyboard (one of the two buttons between Alt Gr and Ctrl, I'm not sure which) to minimize the game and then maximizing it again fixed it every time.

I'm sorry, Taluntain, the game is still lagging. But, thanks anyway, though.

I've noticed that the game lags badly with the version 1.68 installed, especially when there are many creatures around, or very detailed environments (i.e. forest). Using Tal's method you can fix it sometimes, zooming in and out helps too, but not too much.

When the game has to load a lot, it lags. 1.68 makes it need to load a lot all the time, I think. Previously, some large battles inflicted the problem on my system. The game ran perfectly on my system, even with some power reserve, until too many creatures popped up on the screen. And maybe some art-intense interiors. People have been uninstalling 1.68 to get rid of the lag it causes.

What are your RAM and Video card memory? If you have HotU installed, its requirements are higher than the original NWN's, IIRC.

You could also check the graphic textures that you are using in the Video options. If you are using 64-bit, try lowering it to 32.

Ahhh.... it's still lagging. I'm getting real frustrated now.

I have 446 MB RAM, 64 MB Radeon IGP 320M

Concerning lag. I usually do fine, but in the crypt? tower near the end of SOU, in the room with all the maze walls, I get very bad lag and it gets worse the longer I stay in the room. I usually exit the room then come back in to ease the lagging. I am using an ATI Radeon card. Any graphics setting I can change to help in this room?

Chas, that's a bug with the scripts in that area, nothing to do with your system. The fix for it has supposedly been introduced in the last two patches. Do you have the latest patch installed?

Yes. I just upgraded to 1.68 before my last run through and there is no difference. Oh well, just have to live with it in that area.

Unfortunately BioWare's NWN patch fixes often have the habit of well, not working. A number of issues supposedly fixed in the official patches still occur for people even with the patches applied.

The lengthy workaround for this area is to keep saving and reloading. Once it gets too bad, save the game, and reload. With every reload you get a couple of minutes of OK play time before the area script overloads to the point where playing becomes impossible. Since I wanted to explore every nook and cranny in that area as well, I think I had to do some 20 saves and reloads to get through it. :bad:
