    Hi

Recently decided to play the old IE games but seeing as i had never played the expansion to BG1 before i got a copy on ebay, now i have the original 5 disk set for BG and it runs fine or it did, after installing TOTSC and a few bug fix mods and the patches the game now says:

"This version will only run in canada and the united states!"

and wont let me play it,im guessing this is because my expansion is from that locality, i definately installed the english patches and did it in the order everything specified, is there a work around for this or am i going to have to uninstall and buy another copy of the expansion?

If it was the expansion would have been nice for it to pick up on it during install lol.

    Thanks for any help!

It was years back, but I had the same problem and changing my Windows date & time settings to a US time zone has solved it. You could try that.

Thanks for modding my title to be more specific :) That hasnt worked, but what ill try and do is install the game while the date on my pc has the changed time zone and see if that makes a difference!

    --

After reiinstalling w/o doing the time zone change, TOTSC works.

So it was either me installing one of the wrong patched or a mod? Mods shouldnt be region codes so it must be one of the patches i installed!

    EDIT*

Found the problem, it was me installing the Direct x 8 english patch.

is there a reason that happens? also i didnt install it and the game runs fine as far as i can see, if i do need it should i install the international version? i dont want to install it if i dont have to because if i do and it does the same as the england version id have to reinstall again for the 4th time in 2 days.

Probably a game or expansion/patch mismatch, so you'd need to use the international version. But if you don't play multiplayer, that patch is irrelevant anyway.
