Let me start from the begining...

I was in English Class last week and as always I didnt do my homework for that class. She finally (after 4 months) asked why I never do my homework. My reply was that i had better things to do...the first word i said was games...she cut me off and now I am required to write a 3 page persuasive essay on why or why not games degrade human society..4 recources are required, including an interview with a "Gaming Expert" on the topic. :( for the life of me I cannot think of any where i could go to find one, Because I highly doubt that she would accept an Interview from the Renatal Store. Whatever I get on this essay is what my letter grade for the quarter will be so I think im going to do this assignment.

Would any of you Consider yourselves Gaming Experts, or have any ideas of who i could get ahold of for an interview

You could post it in the Bioware forum because some gameprogrammers will read it, they'll help you, or they will just laugh at you..

Here, this is my essay written for my english class.

    http://www.public.iastate.edu/~teekc/misc/a%20revelution%20ideed.rtf

i made an argument that the advancement of pc is solely based on the pursuit for better gaming experience. Shamelessly speaking, my lecturer gave good feedback for the essay. It might help or it might not, depends on you. You can take whatever you think is constructive for your argument just remember to delete my name.

The interesting reaction is called jail -- perhaps some parts of the world didn't hear of a Colorado high school named Columbine. Schools take threats very seriously in the US.

Morgoth had the best recommendation thus far....

    http://rpgvaultarchive.ign.com/features/profiles/lkristjanson.shtml

Its got games, its got English, its got rags to riches and its got leather.

It should be in movie, nevermind a school report.

There was a better Lukas Kristjanson interview detailing his path onto the writing team for Baldur's Gate I, but it has disappeared.

Your teacher sucks. She is too laid back. She will let you fail English. Get a copy of the English syllabus and push yourself, even if it means that you cover the work in six months instead of a year and spend the next six months gaming.

Christ, I don't know what's scarier, the fact that I remember posting that article nearly 5 years ago, or that some random member here can actually give a link to it...

Ask Chevalier. I can't imagine that he would ever deny that he was an expert in anything, let alone gaming. :p

@LoS_DrIzZt4: Is English your 1st language?
When I was in high school, I never did my homework fom English either...the homework was always about spelling or grammer. Once a quarter though I we would get a really big writing assignment (i.e. a 15 page research project on the history of modern avaition)...I turned in a 20 page in-depth report and got an 'F' for it. Her reasoning was that it was clearly a fake. I took it to the administration and had her 'F' turned in to an 'A-'. She hated me for the rest of the year, so one day I confronted her about it. I told her I have more important classes to be doing homework for, not to mention a job. I also told her that on my free time I write short stories. I then told her that the grammer I learned in middle school would be enough to get me by for life, and if it isn't, there is alway the Spell Check feature in MS Word...

The trick is to get them to realize that you really don't need to know what a "Predicate Nomnitive" phrase is because MS word will always be there to help you out. And to really piss them off, tell them that they wasted 4 years in college for a degree in english that only got them a low paying job at a public school! :thumb: :rolling:

Kitrax - we can all tell that you did not pay attention in your English classes or do your English spelling and grammar homework, as evidenced by your spelling of the words "aviation" and, more ironically, "grammar". :p

That may be true HB but the message box isn't MS word so Kitrax probably didn't use the Spellchecker at the top of the page

    *giggle*

I never paid atrtention to grammar in school, which was a bad idea; uit is almost impossible to study another language without a good grasp of the grammatical terms.

(Which, ironically enough, was the only answer i ever got in school...)

Lol I agree =/ i got more important classes to do homework for than english I get the grammar and **** I just done do it because im loaded down with other homework, homework from classes that might come to use in my life..science, government etc, +work + baseball etc. I konw english, I've been speaking it for years, and have no trouble understanding the grammar for it. I've been reading/writing at college level since 7th grade I see no reason to bother with it when I'm more advanced at it than the rest of my classmates...and half the school for that matter =/

I game way too much and I still maintain around an A average; it's all a matter of priorities. Do what is only extremely necessary, and do it well. If it's not needed the next day, time for another round of deathmatch.

I do consider myself a game expert, I stay away from the crap(read:consoles) and I can tell what separates a truly good game from the rest of the crap out there, if you have any specific questions, it would be fun to answer them to the best of my ability.... :p

Well right now its mostly do violent games make teenagers more aggressive, do they stress them, do games degrade women, and does it lower the gpa of the majority of students

No, games really don't lower the gpa of students: Myself and the other top ranked kid in my class are among the 5 or so avid gamers in our class. The games allow us to escape the pressures of the crap that always comes from school, so they actually act as a de-stressing agent for us.

As for violent games, it's all a matter of having gun access, not the fact that one plays violent games, that leads to school shootings. I am a pacifist, and let me tell you, Quake 3 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein are not kid-friendly games in terms of violence and gore.
