[IMG] How long does it take?

How long do you think it took to make SP? I tried making websites, but they really absorb much of your life up.

[IMG] Well, I started making it in the middle of 1999. It's 2002 now and it's finally nearing the vision I had for it in the beginning. So that's about 3 years of constant work & dedication... And we're not nearly finished. It's an ongoing, ever-updating project.

Of course not many people could pull it off... That's why there are so many users compared to the number of websites. ;)

    /me pictures SP without Tal

    Crash. Splatter. Bang. Slurp.

    Rubble.

I had a website once (with a friend, so I wasn't even doing 100% of the work); It lasted about 8 months total, consuming all my afternoons. I had NO time left for ANYTHING else...classes, friends, homework, myself.... God, I would NOT do it again.

I abandoned it from June till summer. Interestingly enough, I looked again about a month ago. It was gone.

    ;)

[IMG] I wish I could see the site the first day Tal put it up. I've been here almost a year and since then there has been a lot of changes, especially with the boards.

-Rules got stricter, editing got enforced, and no more double posting

-Avatar system followed by custom avatars

    -tons more smilies

    -spell checker added

-chatroom now has a graphical page of chatroom stats, full of eye candy and other goodies

    -Darien became a mod ;)

-Creativity Surge and Roleplay Corner added (big thumbs up)

-Screenshot of the Week added :)

-The pic on the main page changed

-Lots more newspeople (who can start telling us more about IWD 2 :p)

-More updates to all the games sections

All in all some good stuff. I still would like to know what it was like at the very beggining? Any cheesie animations? Or other such silliness? :p

[IMG] Well I did bother with some animated gifs (you can see the last remaining two in the BG1 subsection, in the title), but nothing sillier. It was an efficient design, similar to this one, but much simpler. But it was frames, and people could get out of them...
