Well, I finally killed my first lich, took lots of screen shots too for the solution. This was the one in the Crooked Crane from the Bridge District and I got kind of lucky too.

I had done some small damage, like 2, 4 and 3 hit points worth of hits during the battle in the small room. Suddenly the screen went black and I thought I died, until I realized it was Time Stop. Blood and ashes!

Pit Fiend entered the scene, fire started to fall from the sky and Grub, my Half-Orc Barbarian had enough and called the troops to flee. Just before he did, he opened the chest that Aerie had casted Knock on as we entered the chamber and grabbed the sword and necklace.

There was no way I was going to win the battle just yet and we darted out the passage back into the tavern and I handed Aerie the sword to identify.

Well, the bloody thing followed me into the tavern, so my battle was far from over. Aerie screamed as to what it was as the battle continued, Valygar took it out of her hands and raced towards Grub who was holding the Lich off.

Sunray you say? Valygar used the weapons ability, the Lich took 42 points of damage as my screen shot was taken and he was dead!

Couldn't believe my own luck! Too hyped.

    Back to the game :)

Heh, heh! Sounds kinda like my own first encounter! How did you like the screams of the patron in the tavern when the Lich showed up? I thought that was a nice touch :)

[IMG] Just how do you take screen shots? Separate utility or something? I've tried the 'printscreen' key, but nothing seems to happen?

    Thanks. :D

Print Screen it is. They are tossed into the screen capture directory under the BG2 folder in .bmp format.

Mobeus, to screen capture with a MS Windows based OS you can use the 'alt' key + the 'print screen' key. You should hold the 'alt' key down first.

So in BG2 'pause' the game via the spacebar. Then hold down the 'alt' key. While that key is being held down hit the 'Print screen' key. Afterwards you have to open up a graphic application or word processor application -Wordpad, MS Word, PSP, Corel or the like. Then goto the 'edit' option on the menu bar and select 'paste'. It should 'paste' your screen capture into the document or form you have open at the time. There are faster ways of doing it but that's the method for now.

Sylvus's encounter does sound ALOT like your's Blackthorne. But Slyvus left out the 'hunched down & waggin head while spell casting' description of the lich. :)

[IMG] Thanks for the screenshot info. The printscreen key works just fine. (I run W98SE)..Don't know why I couldn't find the shots before--maybe looked in the wrong place. <Duhhh..>

I had already run into that big bad lich under the sewers (unseeing eye) so this one in the gate area was kind of a pushover. The only real problem was the small space. Those other liches, Kangaxx and his cronies, were big trouble, especially Kang. They always make saves, they die several times due to having to kill their reflections/simulacrums, etc., and they throw timestop, deathspells, and imprisonment spells like they have no numbers limits. I always felt lucky to have only one or two members to resurect after the smoke cleared!!

    :) :D
