[IMG] Not a bad little expansion. Aside from the Wailing Virgins and the skeletons that freeze you in oh-so-many ways, not too difficult. Once you realize the developers took every opportunity to apply a pincer maneuver on your party so that you're attacked front and back at the same time, you can change your tactics to neutralize these threats (especially the Remorhaz).

All in all, much fun was had! :) Lots of battles where you're outnumbered and swamped with enemies, and I regretted not making sure I had some kind of flaming weapon to help out with all the trolls! I had to rely on my mages to give the final coup-de-grace once all the other monsters were dead and I could move my own party members out of the line of fire (literally :) ).

    Blackthorne TA,

Just wondering how long it took you (roughly) to finish the add-on and whether you agreed with the reviews that have been posted/linked on the front page? Is it worth our hard earned cash is the question I suppose.

Anyway, any enlightenment you can provide to this humble acolyte will be greatly appreciated.

I suppose it depends on how precious your money is. I definitely found it fun to play and I feel I spent my $25 well, but $25 isn't a fortune to me.

It took me 2 or 3 days at a couple or three hours a day at first, and then last Saturday I played quite a few hours at various times during the day. I'd say I spent what most people say they spent; around 15 hours perhaps, maybe more, maybe less.

In relation to what you get as far as new gameplay vs. price in comparison to IWD, it's probably overpriced (I payed $40 for IWD), but they added a lot more than just new areas and new monsters, so I don't begrudge them my $25. Again, I had a lot of fun playing it...

[IMG] Amazingly...I'm still in the Vale of Shadows! :(

Although I've been playing it a little different this time. If one of my characters dies...I carry them back to a temple for resurrection. If they cannot be restored...or are crushed to goo when they die, I make a new pc to take their place.

It makes it a little more challenging...But I'm still having fun!

    Right now, my party has:
    1 Paladin (Belisarius' grandfather Athelstan)
    1 1/2 E Ranger
    1 Dwarf Fighter
    1 1/2 E Cleric
    1 E Mage/Thief
    1 Human Conjurer

[IMG] yeah its a sweet little expansion. but i finnished it in maybe 12-13 hours of game time. way too easy and certainly not worth the 30 US dollars i paid for it. if you a fan of IWD i would suggest buying it, but please wait for the price to go down.

i'm playing thru the whole game now on Heart of Fury mode just to get my dollars worth. this setting is sick, but a must try for anybody.

Being the game addict that I am (who needs a real life), I'll probably buy it anyway. I wasn't going to bother getting the original as some of the reviews stressed that it was more hack n slash rather than story (compared to BG1). However, after playing the whole of the massive demo I felt it was fun enough to buy anyway (and it was proving very hard waiting for BG2). Anyway, I found the original at the amazing bargain price of £10 (normally £30), so I guess paying a bit over the top for the add-on balances things out...

    Thanks for the thoughts.
