[IMG] I bough Morrowwind over a year ago for the XBox, played it some but got frustrated. I thought my character sucked and I couldn't figure out the combat. Well, I picked up one of my save games a few days ago and decided to stick with it. Now I'm level 5 and actually have some skills. My dude looks insane. I'm a Nord Pilgrim, which is pretty normal looking, but the clothes I'm wearing.

I have armor on but over that I put on an "extravagant robe" I got from some wizard that fell out of the sky after miscasting a levitate spell! The weirdest things happen in this game. I still have absolutely no idea what I'm doing or why, and I just wander around and kill things, steal things, talk to people and so on, clean ouot caves, etc. But, this game really is one of the most in depth and beautiful looking games I've ever seen. I could go for more dialogue, but what is there is cool..."Speak quickly, outlander.." And the music is really pretty cool.

I can't believe how huge the wqorld is and the architecture is awesome. Anyway, just wanted to post on it. Its been a while since I actually daydreamed about a game, probably not since IWD 1.

Morrowind is great, you have however already pointed out its greatest problem. You dnot really know what to do, and even when you find out what to do the main quests and such arent overly appealing. It is great fun to just run around and explore and do various small quests for several weeks.

The game looks great which is one of the best things about it but I couldn't get into it. The not knowing what you were doing part really pissed me off which is why I gave up on it so early. Looting crap was fun though, plenty to steal and lots to look at but nothing very involving.

I love Morrowind myself, I don't care much for the main story line, thats for sure. And agreed, what makes the game so great in some peoples eyes can be a real downner in others - bordering on limitless freedom to do what the hell you want. I have no idea what the main story line is, but fortunately, I don't really care.

Stealing other peoples crap has never been so fun ;)

Becoming god-like and very rich and looking cool decked out in full ebony/glass/daedric/whatever armour is all you need to do in this game. the guild quests are good enough to fill your time and you can sometimes get good quests off NPC's wandering around. You can even do a certain amount of roleplaying but you have to work at it and its not very indepth. eg. As a Paladin, you would escort a lost traveller to a shrine whilst an assassin would stick a sword in her (my choice of course) and get the reward without the trouble.
I can never really make my mind up about this game, I like it but I get bored sometimes when i have to sell everything in such an awkward way. I've loaned it to my friend at the mo and want it back to play.
Back to the reason I was posting... the story is rubbish and not done very well. Could have been done alot better. Oh and I don't like the fact all the NPC's are 'walking search engines' (read that in a review somewhere - good desc).

Like a lot of others, I got kind of bored in the middle. I finished the fighters guild, most of the mages guild and house redoran, and needed a break. I played Civ 3 again for a while then went back to Morrowind. All of a sudden I was into it again.
I finished the main quest, then Tribunal. I am playing Bloodmoon right now.

Fantastic game. A truly fitting sequel to Daggerfall.

I stopped playing about 4 months ago and now I'm thinking I'll never be able to get back into it. When I left i had about 20 quests on the go from about 6 separate guilds. How can I remember what is where and who is who after all this time?

Did you have trouble getting back into it?

I finished it all the way to bloodmoon. Have to say that it rocks, although the combat gets kind of boring after some time.
Killed the king in mournhold, got his ring which is awesome, something like 10 pts of recover health and fatigue, spell absorbtion 100 as constant effect.
Also added the drow and liracor mod. The liracor GROWS with the player, but the voice is not at all like the one in BG2.

    @Vukodlak

I took pretty good notes and didn't leave too many quests open, so it wasn't too bad. If you get Tribunal or Bloodmoon, they added a feature that lists quests and allows you to view the ones that are incomplete.

I did have a little trouble getting back into it. I thought, my character must have sucked so bad or something, I was getting killed by rates and stuff. I also didn't understand the magic weapon charging system, so I never used them for fear I would waste them. Now I get it, so combat isn't so uneven anymore. I did run into a Daedra or whatever in Balmora that took forever to kill using the cheats to keep my health up. Then I ran into another one one level below and said forget it-my weapons were all broken before I could kill him. There are a lot of tough people in this world.

Now I'm at level seven. The way I see it, at some point I will have to go back to that bar where you meet that dude in the very beginning and try to get into the main stroy line, but there's so much to explore I just want to keep checking things out and levelling up. My characters not so great but to start over in the game is crazy. Also-people do not like me very much. I add points to personality every once in a while just to get better receptions (hopefully).

Anyway, I won't be playing for a while again, although I will probably get into it tonight some when I should be studying.

    @ Orkrist

If your having trouble with your levels, don't be afraid to use the trainers. Money is the easiest thing to come across so once you have located the master trainers, you're laughing.

I find money is not so easy to come across. Many of themerchants don't have themoney to buy the better stuff I've fouind, like glass daggers and so on. Any advice on this issue?

Oh yeah, I did kill everyone in the "Tong" Hall in Balmora just to see what would happen, and was killed by the cops.

As far as money is concerned, there are two merchants that have pretty good money. One is the talking mudcrab (10,000 gold, pays full price), the other is Creeper (5,000 gold, pays full price). There locations are available online. Additionally, you could get Tribunal. Many of the merchants there have more than 5,000 gold.

I've started playing again with a Nord 'Heavy Scout'. Decided to build an Empire for myself, with Balmora as the capital. I never train skills manually any more as it takes forever and like I said before, money is easy to get.

To get cash quickly at the beginning here are some tips:

    1. Go to Caldera (via the Mages guild teleportation). Find the Trader across the street from the Ghorak Manor (Verick Germain, I think??). He sells silver throwing stars that regenerate everytime you enter the barter screen. You need about 2000 gold to get started, and it is best to store 'all' your equipment on the floor increasing your carrying capacity. Just buy at the lowest price possible (lowering even further when you merchantile gos up)and the sell to Creeper in the Ghorak Manor which is seconds away. You will definatly make a profit but is a bit tedious so I only do it at low levels.

    2. This is a major cheat and I only do it to get Ebony Staffs but once you can summon Golden Saints, kill them and access the body before it hits the ground, you can take the equipment before the body disappears.

NOTE: The quickest way to get Golden Saints to summon is to complete all the Balmora Mages guild quests. Then get promoted to level of magician or conjurer (I forget which) and then go to good old Caldera Mages guild and go to the Barter screen of the resident Enchanter (on the second floor). He sells the Summon Golden Saint scrolls - and this is replenished everytime you enter the barter screen, so theres no need to wait 24 hours.

    3. Kill lone Ordinators in Vivec and sell the equipment.

Once you have made money get a list of the master trainers you need from the web. I only know where three are and don't use the guides so I can't list them all here.

Once your level 20, money will never be a problem again as ebony, glass and daedric weapons and armour are ten a penny.

Try taunting the Tong thugs so they attack you and you won't get a bounty.

Or download the Trader Creeper mod, he'll then have 100.000 to spent every 24 hours. Some might think of it as cheating, but personally, and i've said this before, i think of it as fixing a bug.

After all, what's the use of putting items of 60.000, 80.000, or of an even higher value in the game, when there isn't a single merchant who has enough money to buy them from you ?

This game does rock. Incredible graphics, gaeplay and hundreds of side-quests. It can be very involving up to the point where your level 60-something and you can clear out daedric ruins with no trouble. Combat can get repetitive and there ae quite a number of glitches but no one cares about them. The game is incredible to play but very boring if you're over at a friends and thier playing it while you watch. Other than that anyone not played this, prepare to lose sleep. The storyline is actually quite good.
    Biggest Strength=Huge World
    Weakest part=repetitive

This is a wonderful game, and I can say that I'm very very hooked on it. A trick with the Camonna Tong in Balmora is to taunt them into attacking you, but it's extremely hard to do with the 3 that's in the same room. I couldn't do it and just paid the bounty out. But, yes, I love this game in the fact that I don't have to follow the storyline if I don't want to. I can do whatever I want, which is very nice until you stumble upon a vampire lair. Not cool, definitely not cool.

Actually I just came upstair from playing it. I've been playing off and and on for about 4 months now. I haven't started the main quest. I wanted to become the head of a few guilds first. I particually like have really high sneak and security skills.

One of the problems of the game (and I'm not really complaining about it) is the fact that you can steal outright from someone - get caught and pay the fine - and the person you stole from just doesn't care. I personally think thats kind of weird but it makes for a lot easier game play I guess.

All in all it is a really amazing game and I'm actually planning to finnish it. By the way, the thieves guild is much nicer than the fighters guild. Maybe I can make the fighters guild a nicer place now that I'm the boss!

Looking through all this I have to say I'm very tempted to buy it, I've been eyeing it up on the shelf in the shop but I never really knew much about it.

Now I know what to get with my next lot of pocket money! :D Cheers guys!
