Finally got BG1 - when to install TotSC?

I bought baldur's gate and the expansion Tales of the sword Cost aswell Baldur's gate 'shadow of the amn' and the expansion Throne of bhaal in one pack.

I am just wondering when it is best to install the tales of the sword coast.
I think I read somewhere that it's best when you finished BG 1.

So whats In your opinion best time to install it?
At once or after the game is fininshed?

I've just completed the nashkel mines part and so far I think the coolest characters are Montaron and Xzar

oh and is there any important patch I should get?

You can install it right away, it just adds a couple new places and some nice stuff you *might* want to get your hands on.

 

Install Tales of the Swoard Coast right away, it gives you a bit more things in the game (like a few more armors and weapons like hide armor and scimitars etc) as well as raising xp cap a bit and improving quick weapon slots for some classes. all in all there is no loss. Since all the areas are added to existing map, and you ned to restart your game afterwards anyways to play since it changes main map

In order of install:

Baldurs Gate 1
Tales of the Swoard Coast
Patch
Baldurdash fixes

get the patches here, its the third from the top (with expantion pack): http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG/index_misc.php

And get the Baldurdash fixes from here, top link, get the first and the third: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG/index_mods.php

The baldurdash fixes is a fixpack that corects as many things as posible including language and game things, for as smooth play as posible its highly recomended. For later games you might want to try "Ease of Use" but dont worry about it on first run.

Question for you, i have been looking a bit at that BG DVD pack myself, but noticed they came on 4x DVD (a bit disapointing for me, had hoped for 2 or less) Do you have to insert the expantionpack DVD before playing with the normal game after installed as you had to do with the old cd version ? where it required you to have expantion cd in drive to start game ?

 

@raptor having just bought it, yes you do, and it calls it disk 6, presumably because the original came on 5

 

Thank you, that makes the pack a little less interesting for my own part (especially since i just mixed together my own DVD with all Baldurs Gate cds including the expantionpack so i only need a single DVD for everything in the game (including patches)).
