I'm sorry if there have already been lots of posts on this topic but I couldn't see any on the first couple of pages of posts.

I was wondering whether there is something special that you have to do in order to kill Isaire and Madae? I concentrated everything on Isaire (he's the bloke right?) and quickly got him down to Hurt status at which point he runs off with his sister. When I decided to follow my whole party was at full health and most of the monks were still alive. Again I went straight for Isaire as did all the monks and within about 10 seconds he was almost dead and none of my party had taken a hit (Madae was nowehere to be seen.) A minute later and Isaire was still almost dead but my party was decimated and all the monks had died. Isaire had no visible buffs, the only people who ever cast a spell were my sorcerers and Isaire was flinching and spewing blood all over the place. Have I done something wrong or what?

Isair has a fire shield up at all times. Hitting it causes 25HP damage to you per hit. This may be what's killing everybody. Have you disposed of the glabrezu guards? Is that mage who summons hordes of monsters and demons dead? Because of the fire shield, my advice is to go for Madae (she also has the intensely annoying blasphemy spell and needs to be silenced with extreme prejudice).

No he had no visible buffs (I cast protection from magic on him :) ). This completely debuffed him and prevented him from casting blasphemy. My party was stoneskinned and hasted. I had a fighter6/barb10, paladin12/fighter4,rogue10/ranger6 and cleric 16 all attacking him (my fighter/barb does over 120 damage on a critical)

Where are the glabrezu guards? Are they always in the throne room? I never saw them? although I did kill the monster summoning guy (I was wondering where all the monsters came from)

I might have just been unlucky but I wanted to make sure that I hadn't missed some lever or something that I was meant to pull or something like that.

I don't know if this is the way it normally ends, but after they went to the fountain, the fight took a little too long. Then Orrick suddenly appeared, and Isair started saying that he felt he was shifting out of this plane. Orrick explained that he had warned them that the tower will shift to the Limbo plane, and that they didn't listen. After this, I got around 7600 XP, for the game's main quest (which I found utterly ridiculous, btw), and they just vanished. The building started to shake, and I had to leave quickly (couldn't go up to 4th floor, only down via the central column).

Does the game always end like this? Or did anyone really get to kill them?

That happened to me too. I think the reason I couldn't kill them the first time I tried was that I wasn't moved to the fountain in the cutscene the first time. I also had problems with in-game cutscenes not working in the time loop room - Is this a common problem or a known issue, if not, why me!?!

As far as I can tell, and I've put a fair amount of time and research into it because I couldn't believe it either! I played through it twice, and my husband once, to be sure we'd caught all permutations on the walkthrough and it worked out exactly the same way each time. Other walkthroughs also spell out the scenario this way. The only way I can think of to prevent this from happening might be to avoid any contact with Orrick prior to the final battle. But I don't know why anyone would do that, not least because of the other quests you'd be unable to complete, and even if they did, the game is probably set up to initiate Orrick's "adventurers leave the building NOW" dialogue whether you'd had any background information on this or not. Getting a "lucky hit" that took them straight from "badly injured" to "dead" before this could happen is surely impossible since they are so hard to damage at all.

I haven't gotten this far yet, but I wonder what would happen if you beefed up your characters with dalekeeper so much that they would deal a bleep load of damage and be able to take a bleep load of hits? You'd possibly be able to kill them, but I bet the building would still shake and you'd be ordered to get out.
I did this once for the heck of it in BG and killed Gorion. I had to use the jump to cursor to get out of Candlekeep, and when I moved onto the next screen , there was Gorion, getting killed by Sarevok again.
I'm gonna play the game first, but I may go back and try this. If anyone tries this first, let me know.
