[IMG] Hi, I'm new here. I'm stumped on a few things game, and I thought that maybe somebody here could help.

    1) I got a piece of a journal in the shade lords ruins saying something about a cache of magical items hidden in one of the stone piles in the south of the area, but I couldn't find anything. Anybody know where this cache is?

    2) Is it possible to kill the shadow dragon? I've tried every conceivable way, except I didn't find many spells to be effective. My cavalier with the flail of ages was the only one to cause any damage (btw, I was at lv. 8 or 9 when I fought him...I am too weak?)

    3) I got the quest to end the cult of the eyeless one or whatever by the priest of Helm (maybe lathander). When I got down to the sewers a group of really tough bandits in the north east kicked my ass hard. Do I have to fight these to advance in the quest, or can I just skip the fight until I'm stronger and can deal with them? And where is Keldorn, I ouldn't seem to find him (though the only thing I really did was kill some kobolds and goblins and then get my ass kicked).

    Thanks a ton guys.

    1) No idea about this cache. I'm hoping I'll find the "other half" of the journal entry eventually.

    2) Yes you can kill the Shadow Dragon. Obviously, a stronger party will make this easier so it's up to you when you kill him.. He ain't goin' anywhere. He has strong Magic Resistance and I suspect he needs +3 waepons to hit him ( I have no evidence for that, just seemed little hurt him). Good luck! (it's worth the effort)

    3) I don't think you HAVE to fight that group. Try going south instead. And I think Keldorn was northwest on that same map.

The only stash I ever found while in the Temple Ruins on my way to slay and defeat that pit of foul evil known as the Shade Lord, was the Statue of Amuanator who's hands were cupped as if wanting something. This had a slew of magical items stashed in it, a nice little pile to say the least.

What journal was this? Perhaps I should read the books I find sometimes :)

As for the Shadow Dragon, he is killable and if you cannot do so right now, you can always come back to him. I've read many ways people have killed Dragons in general, I think the most impressive was lowering their resist then casting Polymorph Other to the lame ass tactics of casting 6x Cloud Kills into the Fog of War and standing back until they die.

In order to solve the hidden cache note, i had to return to the area after a few other quests. a dryad asked me to stop some people from cutting down the trees there. A noble with the other half is there searching. the cache is located on the southern edge near the shadow altar area in a rock formation.

My question is, why did you return here? It's completed once you leave Umar Hills, so what prompted you to return to the Temple Ruins? Did you meet this Dryad somewhere else having her ask you to return there and speak with these folk?

Thanks guys, but I had to start all over again. I had almost a folder of files go corrupt on me, so I had to do an unistall and re-install the game (but I'm not complaining since I got way better stats on my new cavalier s18/49, d18, cons18, i12, w16, charima18 :) )

    1. That journal entry is for a later quest, one that I picked up in umar hills.

    2. The dragon is killable, actually, it is EXCEEDINGLY easy to kill. You can sit at the edge of the screen and cast cloudkill on it until it dies. Probably an exploit, but it works. If you really want to fight it out, it doesn't have very high magic spell resistance, though it does cast resistance to magic weapons which is kind of annoying. I killed it once with the cloudkill trick, then went back and killed it with magic missle, holy smite and fire arrows.

    3. If you can't handle that party, you definitely can't handle the unseeing eye quest. Wait till you run into a beholder with 2 garth escorts, hehehe.

My character is a ranger and is the "Protector of the Umar Hills". Because of this I have a cabin there and use it as a resting point. Every once in a while, I get a quest to help save the Umar Hills from some monster or another.
