[IMG] Well, now that this is not solely ALFA forum anymore we can speak about other servers, aye?

So on what other servers than ALFA do you play often?

Or which you find nice enough?

    [IMG] I like DD a lot...Obviously.

I thought Baldur's Gate was awesome! It's almost exactly like the original DnD game!

Arabel is cool, but the area screens outside the city are HUGE. The city is pretty amazing though!

Anauroch is scary...And it gets a bit boring with nothing but sand as far as the eye can see. I imagine it is much like a real desert.

I was only on TVS for an hour or two...I couldn't get any adventurers to go anywhere with me...So I committed suicide by going into the crypts alone. TVS is dangerous.

I haven't been to any other servers....

I know that I've posted about it before, but... you asked. ;)

I am a member of the Broodslayers guild. We have a persistant world that, so far, has remained under construction while being open for use. First of all, it does have a respawn process with an afterlife area that requires a challenge to be overcome. It is a lot of fun with, I'd guess, probably a medium advancement pace. It doesn't go anywhere near as fast as the official campaigns, but it's not as slow as it sounds like ALFA is.

For example, my 6th level character (brd4/ftr2) earns 2 XP for a goblin and 12 for a goblin shaman. There is an enormous variety of goblins to be found in and around the caves they infest on our PW. I have seen goblins that must have a challenge rating of about 10-12+. Beware the goblins if the DM Amber Jade is around, they're her favorites.

The guild will be celebrating it's one-year anniversary tomorrow, 8-28, by holding 12-hours of fun and games. I've been told that it will be a sort of in-character easter-egg hunt with prizes going to the top collector(s). Something similar was run on our test server for Easter and it was a blast! The prize for the first place player was a starting 500 XP bonus for their first character on the official PW and a minor magic item of choice.

The guild is easy to join and always welcomes good roleplayers. It's been in Bioware's top 5 most active for at least the last 9-10 months. It does not currently require any hak paks.

If you decide to join, look for my character, Braeton Colt, and he can help you out, for a price. ;)

I tried NeverSummer, or something like that, before our PW was ready and it was OK, but then they started requiring a 50+MB hak which I did not want to get over my dial-up connection.

EDIT - The Broodslayers PW server can be found in the Alternative section on Gamespy. It is password protected so that only members can join. Membership can be sought through the usual Bioware Guild channels.

[IMG] Sorry...I can't read. I only see the words I want to see.

A while ago I played on a powergamers heaven called Dor Maeghlin.

I played Middle Earth Online a few times

I also played on the DragonLance online server.

They were all pretty fun...But I don't think any hold a candle to ALFA. Everyone "talks" regular on the other servers mostly. No roleplay, or DM interaction at all. Sorry, it all comes back to ALFA for me...At least until they make Greyhawk Online! ;)

I didn't really get much into playing online until Sir Bel encouraged me to join ALFA.
I used to have a few favourites, but I tend to stick with the Daggerdale server on ALFA now. Been on TVS once.

    *shrugs*

    I like the ALFA servers.

    Dave's Place.

A small server with a handfull of DMs too. Everyone roleplay and we enjoy the size of the server a lot, with knowing most people and the world not changing rapidly. Who needs big flashy things like ALFA when you have a dedicated group of people making a dynamic world in slow pace and 30-40 players with 2-5 new visitors a day.
    Superb

I visited lala land but it got hacked, though it didn't have the same atmosphere as Dave's place. It has something special that you can't put a finger on but makes the place different. Mostly dedication and appearance by the creator of the place. Kinda like Sorcerers Place where Tal is present and active to welcome and help all.

Zombieland was strange and so was some other alternative world. I have never been to any other servers than roleplaying ones, with servervaults for the characters. And Dave's place is top notch.

I think that if we are going to put the names of servers in here, we ought to tell everyone where to find them as well.

I will update my previous post accordingly. :)

I've spent a lot of time on a server called "Kingdom of Thaates." I think it's under the story section, not sure though.

When you get bored of your lvl1 hp10 character dying Dungeon_eternal is an answer.

I quite like it. Completely different than ALFA. You start, kill 2 gobbies and you're lvl2. A bit slower then but you can be lvl10 in one day.

    Its neatly constructed aswell.

Andyway you might wanna try it: Dungeon_eternal under Action type.
