What's your favourite quip in the BG series? What do you think is the most funny?

For a long time my answer would have been Minsc when you stealth him: "None will see me though my battle cry may give me away"

But that was before I discovered the wonder that is Jan. There are so many to pick from, but just for the sheer randomness of it all, I'd have to go with: "Ah, home sweet home! Wait a minute - I don't live here."

 

Geez, there's so many. Jan's pickpocket "I've nicked a bit from our friend here." I love Jan. He's too funny.

 

Nalia:'I have made the pinch, and none are the wiser.'

Her tone always makes me grin, she is soo cute and deliciously naughty!

 

I'm sorry, but I have to go with four.

1 (BG1): One of the responses you can give to Emissary Tar after she says, "The assorted boobs and dimwits around here have been of very little help." I always pick:

(I like it so much I've even considered creating an MP party with just those names. )

2 (BG1): The big long rant you can spew at Portalbenderwinden. Priceless.

3 (BG2): Cernd's barbs at Edwin's...misfortune. The only thing he doesn't mention is bushes, and I think that was left out due to how direct it was (and the offensive possibilities).

4 (BG2): Pretty much anything said between Minsc and Jan, but these two lines from ToB are my favorite.

 

I remember the rant, but I forget the context - where does this take place?

 

^Ooo I like that BG1 ones.

Seriously though, is BG1 more hilarious than the second?

 

And Korgan, he's the life of the party no matter the situation. He's always ready to threaten somebody and he always has such a way of saying things. He refers to Pimlico's "noonmeats" and how Shagbag has decorated the house with Pimlico's innards.

 

One map north of Nashkel, in the southeast portion of the map. He gives you this metaphysical schpeel and you can go off on him. You don't know how much I've wished I could say that to various other people in both games. Why can't it just be a global response?

Oh yeah. BG2 is a bit darker, and you have to get all your yucks from your companions' banter. But in BG1 you can be the comedian.

 

There's one of Jan's that slays me everytime. It's along the lines of, "You know, at night all the creatures glow red. That's pretty scary for a kid."

Quayle: You grunted?

The Flaming Fist looking for Samuel asks who you are. You can say, "We're a hoard of rampaging Tarrasque! Kree! Kree!"

Hubby was showing me the wonders of Tresures of the Savage Frontier years ago. I asked if he would play BG NPCs for his NPCs. We had Tiax as our M/T. Anyway, Amanatas gives the group a crown so you can stay in contact with him. Hubby says (as Tiax), "Hey it's a crown! Tiax will rule!"

 

When you raise Jan, and Keldorn is in the party, he says:

Oh, Keldorn: the gods say ‘hi’ and that you should wash your underwear more thoroughly.

And then Vicona's famous comment to Minsc:

Minsc, that tattoo on your face. Does it have tribal significance or did some nursery’s fingerpainting class assault you with blue pastels?

 

Hehe, yeah the Flamers are an excellent source of fun. I especially like sticking it to the toll guy on the bridge...

 

I love innkeeper's welcome speech from the Candlekeep inn. It was so good translated I still cannot forget it.

 

The time where you spiel at that prophet guy and say something to the effect of "i'll shove an object roughly the sieze of Elminster AND his hat..." that one was great!

And when Korgan is hitting on Mazzy and says something like "ey Mazzy, what's low and hard and you can touch it at any time? Its me axe! Get it? Me axe!! Awww...

 

oOOH! I have a few:

The one where Quayle goes:
"Oooh! Insult me again except this time use your brain!"
(that 'oooh' bit is so annoying it's grown on me )

The banter between the two dwarves in BG1 where one of them (don't remember their names at the moment) goes 'I'm gonna rip you a new arse'

When Edwina goes: "What it is now?"

 

WAIT!!! I CHANGED MY MIND!!

Remember in TOB when you meet Ambrose the Thief, Nanoc the Barb and Tim the mage? They are hilarious!! The things they say, the things they do, they just bring back so many memories!! "Tim can cast magic missile!!" That is just priceless!! And then the "Hey, I bet (PCname) has lots of treasure, I bet we can take him!" is hilarious, he then gets wasted and then you get the line "Ambrose reloads..." that just made me fall out of my chair, and the line that made me wet myself was "We found a magic scroll (or was it dagger?) and after a few weeks we'll finally be able to identify it!!"

Excellent memories, excellent memories!!

You've stolen most all of them I like.

However I think Haer'Dalis poem about Edwina is one of my top favorite quips that hasn't been mentioned.

 

"YOU HEAR THAT EVIL? MINSC HAS A NEW WITCH!" for some reason I've always thought that line was hilarious.
