So what are your favorite moments of poetic justice, cinematic or otherwise?

My favorite would have to be the ending of Cruel Intentions. The look on Sarah Michelle Gellar's face, when the true her is exposed to her whole school by the publication of Ryan Phillipe's diary, is absolutely priceless.

Your turns. I'll admit, I'm using this thread to solicit movie recommendations with such moments. I'm a sucker for them because let's face it: how often do you get to witness poetic justice in real life?

Sorry that this doesn't result in a movie recommendation for you, Beren, but here's one from real life:

The founder of my company is a dolt who keeps trying to get involved in aspects of projects where she has no ability, except to foul things up. She pulled a doozy for one client and teh remedy is really dragging on. Well, they're in the office today - three of their execs meeting with two of ours. It's pretty nasty, with lots of loud, angry voices. The idiot has (wisely) chosen to hibernate in an office at the end of our suite, but now she has to go to the bathroom and would have to walk past the meeting to get there. Serves her right!

Rally ... Poetic justice would be for her stall to have no TP and to have to ask one of the visiting, angry execs to pass a square over (cue Seinfeld "You can't spare a square!?!")

Sorry Brenan ... can't come up with anyones right now...I'll think on it.

I can't thinnk of a good movie one, but after about 12 people told my brother in law that he was a dishonest bastard and he laughed at them like they were goody-two shoes types, watching him, on TV, get taken out of the place he was working in handcuffs -- that was SWEET! Jackass!

[IMG] My mother was at work and one of her workmates decorated their area of the office for Christmas, she had a snowman thing on the window. When she left, my mother and her friends took the snowman and locked it away and sent an e-mail to the woman saying:

Mummy! They have locked me away in theis dark, nasty place, please save me mummy, they are holding me here because you wouldn't share your Christmas decorations. I want to go home, mummy.

In an effort to supply the topic starter with what he wanted, I will mention my favorite thread from OZ. In the second season of the show, a Mafia leader named Peter Schibetta comes to the prison and takes over the drug running operations. This brings him into conflict with the leader of the Black Gangsters, an African named Simon Adebisi. Peter has some damning information on the Warden's brother, and uses that to blackmail the Warden into all sorts of things. Peter decides to try and kill Adebisi, and pays off a guard to take a hike. Peter and his sidekick muscle attack Adebisi, but get their butts kicked -- and then Peter gets his invaded by Adebisi's shlong! Snotty little bastard deserved it. He ends up in the psycho ward.

3 seasons later, Peter comes back. For various reasons, the Italians are at war with the Aryans at this point, and Peter tries to kill Schillinger (the Aryan leader) in order to gain respect. But his timing stinks (he attacks 3 Aryans alone) and he gets raped AGAIN! Poor fool. If he'd just been smart and not tried to be tough, he'd have been fine. But trying to hurt other people results in his humiliation.

Now, as for my brother in law, no, Math, he didn't work for Worldcom -- in the early 80s he worked for an electronics repair shop. People would bring in their VCRs, and the machine would need a $2 transistor or something. They'd know that, keep the machine for a week, and charge the customer $200. My idiot brother in law laughed about ripping people off. I was REALLY hoping he'd end up in prison getting treated like old Peter Schibetta, but sadly he turned Queen's evidence (the term for State's evidence in Canada) and managed to avoid jail time.

Well, like I said, cinematic or otherwise. I certainly enjoyed reading about the real-life ones, and there's no need to storm your brains solely on my account. Any moment of truly poetic justice suffices.

@Depaara, I'm your fellow Oz fan. ;) I've got the first five seasons recorded, and I still love watching Peter's idiocy rebound on him. I also love it when Beecher exacts revenge over and over again on Schillinger. (Especially when Beecher serves Schillinger a special home-made meal in the gym)

Sorry but could someone explain to me why it's called Poetic Justice? Isn't Poetic usually have something to do with poems?

Basically, it's when someone who has been a total ass gets what he (or she) deserves in a most ironic manner.

There is this guy at work who is a total sleeze bag. He can really work it with the ladies. Well my buddy was dating a girl at work and they broke up. This sleeze swoops in a few weeks later and starts flirting with my buddy's ex and is all over her, right in front of him. At work we have cabins for overnight programs, and these two go back to a cabin and start messing around when we have an overnight program. On the clock, mind you. Everyone knows what is going on and thinks these two are just scum. This past Friday, sleezebag's girlfriend comes to pick him up, yes he has a girlfriend and is cheating with my buddy's ex. Well this other girl at work thinks Sleezy's girlfriend should know what he's doing. So she tells her. She gets all peeved, confronts my buddy's ex, tells the owner what's going on and how they messed around while they were both on the clock. (He was suppose to be doing a bear watch, since they come out of the mountains and we need to protect the children who are there camping) Sleezbag and my buddy's ex get fired on the spot. Sleezbag was living with the girlfriend on the weekends and staying in one of the cabins during the week. Since my buddy's ex lives with her parents, they won't let Sleezy stay there, he is now jobless and homeless. And I found out that my buddy's ex dumped him as well!
Now that my friends, is poetic justice!
