(Thought of this after seeing the Arcade Flyer Saturday at Kotaku.)

Obviously, the cover is not the most important part of a video game, but on the other hand, that's how they sell themselves in the store. A good cover can go a long way.

My favorite cover is still the one for the Gold Box game Champions of Krynn.

That cover just looked fantastic to me. This was the first game I bought based on just the cover. I had never even played D&D before and my computer was barely able to play it, but I thought it was great.

    What is your favorite cover?

My favourite is Spellcraft, anything with dragons (and magic) on the cover has got to be a cool game.

    Spellcraft Aspects of Valor

Death Knights of Krynn isn't bad either. It's a bit dark in the link; the picture on the cluebook is on a brighter red background looks better (evil red eyes on the monsters).

Easy: Breath of Fire 2. It's a game over ten years old, designed for SNES, and even though the game itself was pretty bland, I still really like the character art. You rarely see such good design with a right mix of fantasy and artistic flavour.

I have the best of official and unofficial art hosted on my homepage, if interested.

    Monkey Island 1
    Betrayal at Krondor
    Might and Magic 6
    King`s Quest 5

i can`t remember any newer ones. Haven`t bought too many games in the last few years. They are mostly just in dvd covers now arn`t they? Haven`t seen many boxes on the shelves lately.
