Familiar trouble

I am playing a sorcerer as a protagionist and I want to have a familiar. But when I casted from the scroll, it said I already had one. Well, I can't really remember if I already casted the spell before, but I know one thing: I don't have a familiar with me!

I have tried to equip one with SK, but then if I release it ingame, it just disappears. I have also tried deleting the FAMFER and FAMFAIR (of the top of my head) variables in shadowkeeper, but I still can't have a familiar.

My guess is that somewhere around the world of Forgotten Realms is my familiar, but isn't there a way to get him back?

thats sucks cause if anything at all the sorcerors REALLY need the hp bonus. try this if you havent start a new game (or if you are in the process on beating SoA import to ToB). it could just be your saved game.

 

Well, you could always cheat one in the game. You should still have your HP bonus from Familiar #1, and cheating it via SK shouldn't give you any bonuses, plus you'll have your second familiar.

 

When I cheat it in through SK (putting it in my backpack), and I then release it in the game, noting happens. Except for the familiar item in my inventory, that disappears.

I recently found out that somewhere out there, I have a familiar. When I looked at a savegame with Infinity Explorer, I noticed my familiar was in the NPCs menu... Too bad it doesn't say where he is.

 

My Question is : why did you even have it out in the 1st place? All the Familars except maybe the Imp are worthless in combat.

 

Probably because I wanted to hve a little chitchat with it. Familiars can also be fun you know.
And while they are pretty useless in combat, most of them have special abilities for situations out of combat. Like looking for traps, pickpocketing and such.
Anyway, I had a fairy dragon and he can cast invisibility radius 10, this can sometimes come in handy. If I'm going to fight he's going in the backpack.

But all I know is that I didn't have him for a long time, I never used him and he was gone before I knew it..

 

Ah yes thats true, I forgot about the Fairy Dragons little abilities. Oh well. Hey, all i have to say is i'm sorry for you. That does suck. Like I said earlier, try starting a new game or converting to ToB. If you are lucky, the familar will be either erased or at your feet.

 

I don't care about my familiar THAT much that I'd restart my game. There'd be far too much stuff I'd have to do again..
And I already have ToB installed, so I guess I'm screwed . Anyway, I think I'll get over it .
