Fallout Tactics or Planescape: Torment?

[IMG] Simple question. I hope to get them both eventually but right now I can only get one.

I loved the Fallout series but I'm not sure about a tactical game, my favorite thing in Fallout after all was the dialog and engrossing quests.

As for PS:T I've heard many good things about it, some even saying it's better than BG2, and I have no problem with all that Sci-Fi stuff, especially if it's in an RPG. BUT I'm still playing BG2 and trying to get over it so I'm not sure if I want to play another game with the same engine...

[IMG] Well according to what you said I'd suggest getting PS:T. Fallout Tactics is the 'IWD' of Fallout games. It's a good game but more about combat and less about quests. On the other hand PS:T is all about dialogue and quests. The combat takes a back seat to the storytine.

So in short go with PS:T first and get Fallout Tactics after.

If you want to shoot stuff and do some tactics, get Fallout Tactics. If you want a game more like BG (that even has a good plot and where you don't need to reload all the time) get Torment.

The answer is simple: Torment! PsT is one of the best CRPGs of all time, while Fallout tactics is 'only' a good game.

[IMG] I beg to differ. Fallout Tactics is a great game. Its a great "tactical, squad-based" game. :)

Simply, if you prefer RPG's go for Planescape:Torment. If you want a tactical game, go for Fallout Tactics.

I've played and finished both. They're completely different games.

I think I'll go for Tactics, I've had enough(2 1/2 years) of the infinity engine.

[IMG] Good Argument, but after Fallout, play Torment too! You won't regret it.

I would go with Fallout if you dont want to surrender next week, month to PT (if you play it too long you forget the storyline that is great in PT and it is special experience) I played it several times for a week and then something interrupted (school mostly) and so i played it almost a whole year, but it was great.

Fallout, i always dreamt about being leader of BoS squad. Yeah, story is linear, but hey you have orders -> missions -> it is linear! But missions are great (but after a while, say around 15 and after they are like "kill them all")

Question for those who played: RealTime or Turn Based?

Me: RealTime -> faster, better, reallike!

Torment is the pick of the games using the Infinity engine though. No mean feat given others that use it.

[IMG] Total: Realtime, for the most part. But the last mission, I had to switch to turn based. Those cannons/chainguns would saw me in half the minute I shot at them from cover.

    Alyr: Yep, you won't. :)

Luan: I agree. I think PS:T is the best game that came out for the Infinity Engine. Isn't that right Extremist?

    Yes, it is right.

But see above what I've suggested and why, then scryve the boards a bit...

:) I hope to get off these boards once I stop playing BG2, so you won't have to worry about me. :)
