After I defeated Sarzvok in BGI, my Paladin suddenly became a "Fallen Paladin." I imported him to Shadows of AMN and he is still fallen. Is there a disadvantage to being a fallen Paladin? How do I get back in good graces?

[IMG] its not good being fallen, you basically lose your paladin abilities but have to pay the penalty of using more exp points to level up :(

The way I understand it (as I've never fallen myself), for all intents and purposes, you're considered a plain old fighter with high XP requirements until you redeem yourself. Taking the Order of the Radiant Heart quests and passing restores your status certainly. I'm pretty sure a sizeable donation to a church works too. I know there are other ways to do it. Taking the good route in every quest you do should also do it, but I'm not 100% sure.

If you're fallen before you do the stronghold quests, can you still get the stronghold?

I know that the quests will remove the fallen, but I'm not sure if the stronghold is off-limits.

I've always thought being "fallen" meant the pub had cut you off until you pay your tab, and every other lush in there didn't want you mooching ale off of them 'cause you never hooked them up when when they were at that point.

I've only been fallen once, and couldn't really tell a difference, other than a side remark or two. I must not have been using the class correctly. That was years ago, though.

I believe I read that when you complete the quests, you get your stronghold and your abilities back. I was thinking that you had to actually start the quests before you become fallen; that is, you cannot begin the quests if you are currently fallen, but you can continue them.

Fallen Paladin or Ranger, just means that your popularity dropped below 7, you lose your skills and if you've finished the Strongholds, you're F****d for getting any abilities back. Basically your a good fighter then.

being a fallen paladin is not good
it is good if you want to play as an evil character, but otherwith not good
it means you have lost your good name as a paladin
it can also happen to rangers

A fallen paladin is decidely not a cool thing to be. You're a slightly less effective fighter than a normal fighter, but it costs 50,000 XP more per level to level up. That sucks. Also, a fallen paladin is a rather pathetic sort of a figure: he's no great champion of evil, simply someone unable to live up to the rigours of his vows. If I were you, I'd edit your character with Shadowkeeper to remove the fallen effect.

What was your reputation at the end of BG1, just out of interest?

My first character ended up a fallen Paladin, their hopeless. Also once you become a fallen Paladin theres not way of redeeming yourself, your stuck like that. Not a good place to be!

Once you've fallen you need to complete the stronghold quest ASAP to get your Paladin status and abilities back. However, if you have already done the stronghold and then fall you are then screwed.

It is good for roleplaying though.

A paladin is a champion of their god. Instead of becoming healers they become warriors for their god. For this sacrifice to their god they are given special abilities. All the paladin abilities in BG2 are what Im talking about in this case.

A fallen paladin is a paladin who succumbed to evil for an extended period of time. Because they are no longer serving their god, their abilities are revoked. Sucks if it happens to you.

You need to play the game a bit more carefully with a Paladin or a Ranger, as a loss of reputation can cause the loss of class status. Your reputation needs to fall below 5 or 6 I think.

Trouble with BG2/BG1 is you don't even have to do an evil act yourself. It could be one of your party being charmed/confused and accidently killing an innocent, or setting off a fireball in the wrong place.

When you get your status back, and you will in this game. Then make sure your reputation is always about 18-20, then any errors like this can't happen.

What you could do is export your character from BG1, then use a game edior to change the status and then import the character into a new BG2 game. You could say that your character atoned for the crime and received back his Paladin status between the two games.
