I have completed IWD2 twice (party of 6: no cleric, a druid and a pal). The second time through was with a completed spell caster and 3 newbies at normal (pal, fighter and rogue). I wanted to go with 3 completed characters but I found that at the start I could get no exp. points for kills. I completed today and to my complete dismay: The sorcerer made it to level 22, the other 3 made it to level 16 with almost all quests completed -- the newbies made it to the same level that a party of 6 made it. WHY the incredible decrease in exp. points per kill.
Also, today, I learned about HoF. I started my party out and they don't get any experience points for kills. WHY?
    Sincerely,

Even level 30 characters get xp for kills in HoF. How hard are the goblins to kill? I hit death means that HoF mode is off... just a suggestion.

The amount of xp earnt is lower as you advance in level so you normally will end up about level 16 no matter what because it is averaged out.

Try level squatting, not pressing the "level up" button and see the difference in xp.

In HoF mode if you have level 1 characters you get 3600xp for 1 goblin. Less if you are higher level.

[IMG] On the same subject, I understand from elsewhere on this board that the XP for kills is awarded based on the average level of the PCs. What I'd like to know is whether it is based on the actual levels or ECLs (effective character level)?

For example, would a party of 6 humans at level 8 obtain the same XP for the same kill as a party of say, 6 tieflings at ECL 8 (meaning actual level 7)? Or would the latter party obtain more?

I am toying with the idea of creating a party of outcasts: drow, tiefling, duergar, svirfneblin and perhaps an aasimar - all with ECL. My current party characters are all level 15 in Chapter 5 and I am disappointed that so many kills result in zero XPs.

Ganz, as far as I understand Modjahed, the ECL effects the required xp for the next level, but for calculating the level to get xp the actual level is used.

You may like to try level squatting, that is not to level up some characters so that their level is lower and more xp is gained by all.

You could also download the tweaked xp table which is available on SP under the hacks section...

Thanks, Khazraj. So the actual levels would be used then, to calculate how much XP my party would get from a particular kill.

Level squatting doesn't appeal to me. But I will have a look at the tweaked XP table.
