Escaping Spellhold

After beating Irenicus in Spellhold, I talked to Saemon and told him I'd take the ship with him, and he dimension doored himself away, leaving me inside. I looked around a bit, thought I can't seem to find my way out of there. Exactly how is one supposed to leave Spellhold? It's been a while since I played through the game, to I've beaten it with almost every class and kit, however, I cannot seem to recall every having this problem

 

You leave it the way you entered. Well, the way you would enter it with the runestone from the Cowled Wizard, anyway. Namely, the front door, which is at the southeast corner on the top level (the one without the test tubes). From there, you go down a bunch of stairs (likely fighting some monsters) and cross a long bridge at the southwest corner there. Then you'll be back in Brynnlaw.

 

I remember that Saemoen dimension doored me directly to outside of Asylum, when I accepted his offer for ship. Now I am sure, I remember going back inside to loot Irenicus's thingies. But perhaps my mods are doing this? (I am not sure!)

 

Hm.. on the bottom floor, where you fight Lonk the Sane and release all the inmates, there's the door from which I entered Spellhold in the first place. However, it's just a question mark over it that sais "This exit has been sealed by a magical force. You'll need to find another way out."

Upstairs, where you fight Irenicus, there's the portal to the Underdark. There's also a starcaise leading upwards, though when I have my mouse pointer over it, nothing happens, hence I cannot use the stairs.

I'm quite stuck!

 

To check I'm reading this right: you talked to Saemon after fighting Irenicus and accepted his offer. He then dimension doored away, but left you inside.

Have you tried a reload? It may just have been a one-off bug and trying again will work as normal.

If this doesn't work, you could try using the CLUA Console to move to the outside map. The required code would be:
CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("AR1500")

 

^So you agree than normally Saemon DDs your pary outside when you accept his offer. Why didn't he DD spetznaz then?

 

Hm, I realize now that there must be a bug pestering me... Saemon clearly sais "A sensible choice. Let me just use my magics to penetrate Irenicus' wards, and then teleport us to surface and sun."

Ah well, I guess I'll have to take the portal and SK some items, no biggie

Hey, no, you can use CLUA console to 'DD' outside and can continue as usual. Look at Decados's post above!
