    Upon leveling up to ten, Edwin lost one spell slot in levels four and five...is that normal for him? Will he slowly regress into a lvl 1 mage? I was a little shocked and now I know the reason for his cockiness...imagine his power at lvl 1!

    Seriously...is this a known bug? I did a search but came up empty.

    Are you patched and/or Baldurdashed? If not, this may be the reason. It certainly is NOT supposed to happen!

    If you decides to give all your items to the dragon in Suldanessellar he will take Edwin's necklace. The same with Minsc's Boo.

    .. and since his necklace gives him one extra spell per spell level Velve, that cannot be the reason. I don't know.

    I have a save prior to the level up...i'll post the results.

    Experiment completed...and it gets wierd.

    Same result as with prior save. I removed the wizardy ring (lvl 5,6,7) and still same result. Edwin had his amulet during all tests.

    At lvl 9(with just amulet), Edwin had...(lvl/spells)
    1/8; 2/7; 3/7; 4/6; 5/5;

    At lvl 10(with just amulet), Edwin had...
    (lvl/spells)
    1/7; 2/7; 3/6; 4/5; 5/5;

    This means he lost spells in lvl 1, 3, and 4.
    I checked the spell chart and those are the spell levels where his spell slots should remain the same while 2 and 5 should increase! Also, the lvl up screen listed no spell lvl increases.

    Quite strange...

    Here's the thing...I checked the chart and for lvl one spells the baseline is four spells at lvl 9. Edwin had eight! So...4 baseline + 1 specialist + 1 amulet = 6 spells...two less than he had.

    In fact, reviewing the chart...he had four more than baseline in all spell lvl's prior to leveling up.

    Upon leveling up to ten...he had three more than baseline in all spell lvl's.

    So the question is...does his amulet stop working at lvl ten? That is the only reason I can think of that he would lose one spell slot per spell lvl.

    I noticed this, too.

    But my Edwin lol never lost spells. He just didnt gain any additional slots. It happens every time I have him in my party, but only once. After that its all back to normal.

    Never worried about it, cause he already has more spells than I can hope to use.

    My conclusion is that the amulet provides +2 spells a lvl up until lvl 9. At lvl 10 it drops to +1 spells a lvl.

    Granted, I have no idea if that sort of programming is possible with an item...but it is the only thing I can think of that fits the data.

    It is possible, so that might well be the reason.
