[IMG] Hi, is there a way to edit mage kits so that they are the same as pre-HoW IWD? I do not like the new opposing schools, they make specialist mages way too much restricted and hindered IMHO, and I can not enjoy them any longer.

Can I make them like old IWD, by editing some files? I know, I can edit level and XP charts, spell tables etc. So maybe there is a little file in override folder, which I can edit easily, to delete newly added opposing schools? To make them just like pre-HoW or BG2?

    Thank you.

IIRC there was an option to change the opposing schools when you install AB. You could try to out what exactly is changed if you select this (or simply ask one of the creators of this mod).

Another solution is just adding another spell per mage level to the .2da file and not memorizing spells from the opposing school.

I checked AB already, while its opposition schools make more sense to them, they are still very restricting. I want only one opposed school rule like old IWD and BG2.

I can still add spells via DK, to work around?

I like the idea of editing spell table, but then again it will say my character is a 'mage' and even if I do not learn spells from opposed school, I will feel like cheating. :p

    Thank you anyway!

I remember looking for this myself, i only ever figured out how to do it in neverwinter nights :(

The main anoyance for me is that they did not do it similar in all teh games, even if it was very restricting i wouldnt have minded as long as they just kept it similar.

I would have much rather prefered they added the fact that the extra bonus spell should only be used on spells of the specialised school, rather than restricting further.

IIRC, the school restrictions are hard coded into the game, so there's no way you can change them yourself. The best option IMO is the one kmonster suggested, and I'd go for this one rather than using DK.

OK then, thanks. I guess I can add the occasional spell via DK in the future. :p I am quite good at toying with DK, it has never given me trouble so far!
