I've been considering adding this mod to my game, but I have a few questions first:

Can you choose which parts to add on?

Does this mod need to be added in any certain order (I'd hate to have to unintall and reinstall everything)?

    TIA

Yes, Ease of Use if broken down into components: you can choose which ones to add or not as you wish.

The ReadMe will tell you if there are any conflicts (I don't think there are in the present version), and advise you where in the order to install it.

    From the readme:
You might want to be choosey about the Romance Any Race/Gender and Romance Conccurent NPCs bits. I found it overwhelming.

And don't let SimDing0's pimping sway your decision. ;)

    Pimping? Pimping?

I'd hardly call a false sense of superiority "pimping". "Lording" maybe. But not pimping. :p

(BTW, are EoU and the Tweak Pack incompatible with each other?)

    No.

This **** is starting to wear me down. I hate modding.

The Tweak Pack includes all components of EoU, updated for improved compatibility and bugfixed. WeiDU.org should soon be updated with a link to it where EoU currently resides. This is simply the newer version of the mod. And it's nothing to do with me.

@Sim - what additions does Tweak Pack have. I've had EoU installed for about a year now, but if there are some definite good additions, I'd uninstall EoU.

    From Tweak Pack link:
For me (and maybe a lot of othere people), these combined Tweak Packs are too much cr@p I don't want. Yes, I don't have to install it all. But why install it to begin with when there's a perfectly good mod with just the things I want?

Before we go down the route of futile arguing on why/why not and this/that mod again...

    Here's EoU's page: http://www.weidu.org/ease.html
    Here's BG2 Tweaks' page: http://www.gibberlings3.net/bg2tweaks/

It's written quite clearly there what each of the mods includes, so everyone can make an informed decision based on that.

If you don't want/need the extras that EoU doesn't have, stick with EoU. If you want more than EoU, use BG2 Tweaks. It's that simple.

No, it isn't. As I mention, BG2 Tweaks recodes various EoU components to, for example, improve compatibility.

I'm really not sure why this is such an issue. No, I'm not suggesting that users who have Ease of Use installed now should drop everything and upgrade, but there's really no reason to advise future players to use the older versions of components.

It is that simple from the perspective of a user who is happy with EoU and doesn't have any issues and/or problems with it. Plenty of people are still quite happy using Windows 98 despite the fact that Windows XP is, in my opinion, vastly superior to Windows 98 in every aspect. But there's hardly any point in me going out of my way to convince them to switch if their Windows 98 works fine for them. It certainly didn't for me, but hey, some people are just lucky... or stubborn. :shake:

Right, I agree. But you might not recommend that someone setting up a new computer used Windows 98 over XP. And if someone came along and said "hey, new users may as well just install XP", you probably wouldn't accuse them of "pimping" or "a false sense of superiority". This is where I think some of the earlier posts in this thread may have been sub-optimal. Anyhow, apolgies for censored frustration expressed above.

But this isn't just a newer version, it's three mods in one. That makes it three times as big as any of the mods separately (really only an issue for those of us still on dial-up), with extraneous features if you only want the stuff from EoU, which brings in the standard mod-user paranoia about undocumented changes. You (or whoever) probably made this mod absolutely perfectly, but I'd still recommend EoU for people who only want features from EoU. Call that illogical, irrational, whatever, but that's how people are.

P.S. Pimping mods is a commonly accepted practice, so don't take that too hard. Without pimping mods, most people wouldn't even know about them. It's just publicity.

Oh, and don't pay attention to Splunge. He's just a wise-a$$.

I'm not the author of the BG2 Tweak Pack. I don't even think I wrote any of the components. I'm picking up the baton here because it has horrible shades of all that stuff about Revised Hell Trials which was depressing enough--now I'm hoping it'll be a good opportunity to debunk what appear to be some prevalent myths about mods being packed with trojan content.

The dial-up argument is compelling, but presumably only affects a minority of users. (I really have no idea.)

Does this paranoia about undocumented changes stem from anything other than one person telling a bad story? From where I'm standing, it certainly doesn't seem to be "standard" among mod users. While for larger mods some less reputable authors may neglect to thoroughly document changes, with mods like these there's really no way anything can make its way in quietly--each component is specifically coded to perform one select function.

Paranoia doesn't stem from anywhere, that's why it's paranoia. Some people just don't trust that others will tell the truth about what they're including. Sure, it's incredibly unlikely, but better safe than sorry.

SimDingo, I didn't realize that the Tweak Pack is basically just an upgraded version of EoU. From reading your origianl post,I was under the (mistaken) impression that TP was more of an alternative to EoU, but not any better, and thought you were trying to get people to use TP instead of EoU because of some sort of bias. Apparently I was wrong, and so I offer my apologies for my earlier post.

Ah, okay. Well, as I said, I apologise for my frustrated response. I was still nursing my scars from the last time I tried to make people use the mods I want them to. :)
