DnD Vault has shared first impressions from the Dungeons & Dragons Online beta testing, from the perspective of a sorcerer character. The article is nice to read and provides a lot of information. Here's a snip:

The first section of the game is to let you get used to moving your character around and fighting, but it's worth it to run through it since you get some easy experience points (XP) out of it. If you've ever played any form of role playing game, whether it's online or solo, you know that your character needs XP to advance, and the only way to get XP is by completing quests (note that in DDO, you don't earn XP simply by killing things in a massive grind-fest - you have to get in and get out alive to get any reward from it.) There is also a row of training areas where you can learn to fight, cast spells, and disable traps if you're a rogue. I took the combat training and spell casting 101, then I jumped onto the ship to Stormreach...

... where I found out that the city is closed off to newcomers! And it looks like such a nice place too - rustic, yet glowing with magical floating spires. Odd mix of old meets new. Looks like a great place to visit, except when I talked to a guard, I was told that I can't get inside unless someone important can vouch for me. Well, I don't know anyone here! Fortunately, I ran into a guy outside who is nice enough to help me out. All I have to do is run a few errands for him, and he'll give me a password so I can get past the guard. What a nice guy! So I spoke to him, decided which one I wanted to do, and then ran off to do my first real quest!
