I'm playing a human Swashbuckler. He definitely ROCKs compared to a regular thief. I do miss backstabbing from time to time.(sigh) His offensive traits definitely out weigh this disadvantage. His low HPs(6-8 per) and limit of Studded leather or less make him vulnerable even at higher levels. To make a short story endless...I wish that I could dual from a fighter to a Swash. Nirvana!!!

I played swashbuckler the first time through and really liked him. It's true that his hit dice and armour restrictions are a drag, but if you're really attentive about giving him the most AC and hit-point beneficial magic items, he can still be pretty badass.

I can see Wrathman's point, I'd want to be a fighter first, to get the high hit points.

[IMG] I wouldn't even mind if you couldn't keep your skill points above specialization. The Swashbuckler is pretty potent without Grand Mastery.(be even more potent with...) 2nd AD&D rules allow for dualing to a kit from a non-kit class. It is probably a function/limitation of programming all the possible combos. If there was a dual class addition to those allowed in BGII this would get my vote as #1.
    What say you?
What dual class kit combo(non-kit 2 kit class)would you like to see?

Fighter to Shapeshifter, then you could really be a badass werewolf!

Sorry, crazyj, the class that you dual to can not be one from a kit. You can only be the true class.

Well guys, you can dual from a Fighter to a Swashbuckler, using Shadow Keeper. However... what's the point? All of the Swashbuckler's advantages come from the fact that he's a better fighter than other thieves... however, if you used to be a warrior, then that basically makes the advantages of a Swashbuckler null and void! You're better off dual-classing to a regular thief, because then not only would you be able to whup a Swashbuckler's behind, but you'd also be able to backstab!

I have used Shadow Keeper to dual a Fighter into a Shapeshifter... and it's a scary class indeed.

I know you can't, Shura, Wrathman asked what non-kit to kit duel class we'd like to see, at least that's how I read the question. That's what I'd like to see. A fighter to a Bounty Hunter would be cool, too. I wonder how all these kits are going to transate to BG 3. I'm certain BG 3 is going to be 3rd edition, as WoTC is no longer supporting 2nd Edition. They have the concept of Prestige Classes, which may be a replacement for kits. Just wondering.
