Here's a silly question that I could test if I had access to my game, but I won't, not for several months, but I still want to keep my hand in. Here's the theoretical situation. Let's say I have a Human fighter who I dual to a mage (we'll say at level five, no reason, just arbitrary). I get him to level six as a mage. Now, he can use both fighter abilities and mage spells, correct? I know he can't cast spells in armor, but he CAN use any weapon. My question is, can he now, as a mage, place proficiency slots in a weapon normally restricted to mages (for example, a long bow?) Please advise!

Yes, being dualled allows the mage now to put proficiency points into weapon, his fighter side grants access too. Because the restrictions of the mage come from inability and not from believe, like with clerics and druids. So, yes, if dualled thief Imoen can use a short-bow, dualled fighter mage can use a long-bow and put points there.

Or i just might be wrong.

I wasn't talking whether or not they could USE an weapon, I'm just wondering if they can gain PROFICIENCY in non-mage weapons.

Ah, yes, That was included in my post -> Develop further, but at mage-rates. So, yes, I think all 5 points. I did talk about clerics, because I never dualled mages, but I dualled clerics and they can.
