That's entirely up to you really. Some standard ones are fighter/mage, fighter/thief, fighter/cleric, fighter/druid... But it's entirely up to you to pick what kind of character you like to play. It's generally convenient to start with a fighter class and then dual, so your character benefits from the fighter class characteristics.

You could play a fighter throughout BG1 and ToSC and then import him into BG2 with his 161000 XP. ON 225000 XP you level-up and now are a 9th level fighter. You now have most benefits fighter class can offer. Dual to cleric, wizard or thief (that's all you can take). Especially the fighter(9)/cleric(rest) is a deadly combo - and later in the game you'll lag only only one level behind pure clerics. You have full fighter's HP (esp. taking 18 con pays back, esp. if you find +1 con tome in bg1) and some nice thac0. Plus with wisdom increased (the greatest increase in whole bg saga if good, if evil - strength takes the place, which is also not a bad idea for a dual-classed cleric) you'll have nice amounts of bonus spells.

Fighter/wizard could be nice - some take kensai/wizards, some berserker/wizards, I would stick to pure fighter/wizards. You'll be allowed all weapons and be able to wear armour if really needed. You could safely abandon that possibility, but kensai can't wear too many other accessories to be that nice. Rage is not good enough to sacrifice ranged attack possibility (unless a full-time berserker), so I believe pure fighters are best here.

Fighter/thieves - now kensai makes sense. Just max out STR, DEX and CON (like you anyway should do with a fighter) and watch him grow in power. Use any item feat will allow you using all items as the name suggests, including forbidden armour and ranged weaponry.

My next trying will be Half-elven (not elven for Viconia's romance, although I'd like to play elven) Fighter/Mage... I think multi-class is slower than dual class, so no point taking that kind of class...

Only Humans can dual class. If you take a Half Elf you must use a multi-class or stay single-classed for the duration of that character's career.

Well, sorta... :) Dual-class is for humans... Multi-class is for other races... :) I must remember this...
