is my druid able to wear a beetle shell plate and cast spells ?

in ad&d druids were restricted to leather armors but gameinfo says only arcane casters will fail spell ... i don't want to pay for nothing cause my druid would be only one to use such armor.

In IWD2, he can wear any kinda armour you want him to wear. however, there are "arcane spell failure" percentages associated with the armor. Like plate amour has a failure probability of 35%-40%, which means that his spells may fail for 35%-40% of the time. Kinda bad huh? But well, you can counter this by taking the Armoured Arcana feats, which will reduce this probability by 5% each (up to 15%).

Personally, I think that's a waste of feats, and so I normally have my druid wear lighter armour... that is... my druid used to wear light armour when he was still in my group. now, replaced him with a sorcerer. much more effective. *grin*

[IMG] Casting failure for armour only affects wizards and sorcerors..... nothing to do with druidical/clerical magic.

So go ahead and give your druid your heaviest armour, though you might want to go for the strong back feat.

However, without proficiency in armour (different from armoured arcana), there is a penalty to attack rolls. To avoid this, just take one level in fighter (multi-class), which will automatically give you weapon and armour proficiency.... almost all my party members take at least 1 level of fighter.....
