[IMG] Right, having read all about the drow eleves stats, and having not played the game yet(It is being delivered tomorrow). Are the drow Elves any good because on the surface they are penalized which is realistic but does it make them ineffective?

Not totally ineffective. But I ended up playing the whole game at night (between 10pm and 6am) when they don't get any penalties. Dungeons and roofed areas are fine for them, even during the day.

IMO the penalties to drow aren't worth worrying about too much. The only clincher is the ECL of 2 levels, this can hurt in a large party.

On the other hand, the very reason I included a Drow in my party is that I can buy a tome called How to be an Adventurer. It adds 10,000xp to the character that uses it. This brings my Drow character on par with the Aasimar and Tiefling characters in my party. The Drow is then well worth it for the ability bonuses and spell resistance.

The tome is sold by the librarian of the Black Raven Monastery.

Giving such obvious spoilers is probably not such a good idea for someone who has not got the game yet...

The penalties are hardly noticeable over the whole game. If you don't multiclass the drow you'll never notice it. Besides the advantages really are worth it.

Well, I think the drow is worth it because of the drow. As far as I know, this is the first game to let you include drows in your party, and considering the popularity of a particular drow character....

My drow is multi-classed as a f/t, and is using a bow. She does this rather well.
