The DLAdventures team has been asked by a forum member about the current plans, as they are at the moment and with no guarantee that they will ever come true or that they won't change, and replied at length. Here's the first paragraph of what Steel Wind has to say in the matter:

Do you intend to release a version of DLA1 for NWN (as opposed to NWN2)?
The party control issues are too great to overcome with NWN1. It can't be done with this engine.

If it could have been done - we would have done it.

As a result of our working on the DD program, BioWare gave us a quid pro quo and made some engine modifactions we had hoped would accomodate our design. It fell short. Not Bio's fault. They did all we asked.

Please appreciate that the work involved in creating an entirely new AI and a new interface for party control on a game that was never intended to support it is extremely difficult. For an 8 party member game? It was not possible without a near total rebuld of critical systems in the game. That was not in the cards - and never was.
