Has anyone else noticed just how awesome a fighter you'd have after 10 levels of Dragon Disciple? Why in the world waste a STR increase of 8 on a wimpy spell pusher or some smarmy singer? :D The stat boosts alone cry out for a tank, much less the AC bonuses.

You can always burn one level on Bard or Sorcerer, but...

Obviously you've never had the pleasure of playing a fighter/mage if you think this is a waste.

He's right - what he's talking about are devoted classes. I agree that it is a bit of a waste, as is the Pale Master. Their respective benefits just scream melee character. Having a straight Sorcerer waste 10 levels just to have the strength of a comparable fighter, and a breath weapon equivilant to a cone of fire spell is just lame. However, mixing in even just one level of Sorcerer or Bard into a strong melee character (like the Paladin) and spending the next 10 levels to absorb all of the RDD's benefits makes for one insanely powerful melee character. Almost too powerful. But a devoted Sorcerer would be wasting 10 levels by taking the RDD prestige class. I can't speak for the Bard though.

I don't think it would be wasted on a bard, but on a sorcerers, then yes it is.

Never forget that in this game the Bard is some kind of Fighter/Sorcerer/Cleric which means the bonusses aren't wasted at all. On the other hand I must agree with the Sorcerer but he is there so you can make the awesome Paladin x/Sorcerer 1/Red Dragon Disciple 10 since that isn't possible with the Bard. :D

It is a sad day when a sorcerer is used and abused just to create at tank RDD. I found both "caster" pristige classes to be extremely annoying. I would think a prestige classed sorcerer would be, oh i dunno, a BETTER socerer! Same with the Pale Master. I don't want to play a caster that has to melee fight, I want to play a caster that can decimate an entire room without stepping foot in the doorway! Now if the prestige classed casters got spells/abilities that no one else gets (that are more usefull than the undead arm) that would rock. Oh well, still fun game. But i still prefer to go with a powerhungry wizard all the way. it's hard to imporve upon perfection!
