    I'm glad I was wrong:

    http://dragonage.bioware.com/awakening

Looks like a full blown expansion with more in common with Throne of Bhaal than the NWN expansions (it seems you can keep the same character).

It makes up for Return to Ostagar being delayed. Now let's wait for March. :D

Delayed? Doesn't it come out today? Am I going to be disappointed when I get home? :(

I think he means delay, because it was AFAIK to be released before or by the holidays and not after.

It is due to release today, January 5, 2010

This sounds like a promising expansion-- I just got an email from Bioware about this earlier this evening. Hopefully the admins will get something on the front page about this.

Looks nice. Apparently this will add fifteen hours or so of playtime. Hopefully I will have enough time to complete a second play-through sometime after this is released.

RtO is delayed further if you own a PS3. I believe it won't be out for another week or two..

The expansion definitely sounds like it will be worth the money and it better be on all platforms again.

If I was Bioware I would spend more time developing the expansion and just call it DA2 or something.

Given the information from the website I'm not sure if the game will be a prequel or a sequel because it states that you will rebuild the GW order. Wasn't Duncan doing that prior to Ostagar? So, it could be a prequel leading up to the blight. Hmmm...

read again mate, it specifically states that you can use the character you used in the OC and meet with joinable npc's from the OC.
The main plot is you rebuilding th order following the defeat of the archdemon, the main plot centers around why the darkspawn stay on the surface even after the archdemon is defeated and the main villian seems to be the architect (not from the matrix but from the DA books).

    So definetly not a prequal.

Also from the video, it looks like the official ending makes Allister king. I wonder if this means the god-child then is also part of the official ending. Looking forward to the expansion

A little edit: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/105/1058713p1.html here is a nice interview about the new expansion

Hopefully what you did in Origins will have some relevance ie
    who you made monarch

They're doing a similar thing with Mass Effect 2, I believe so I don't think it would be impossible.

Actually that is confirmed from the interview I posted :)

Which is brilliant, must be a lot of work just to take in the different choices you took in the OC.

I wonder if the new Orlaissian origin for the expansion, where you get to hear rumors about what happened in OC, will be the canon for the OC and who is on the throne in that version.

I would have to play at least one or two origin I've completed through the expansion and than play the Orlaissian origin.

Same here, need to play my dwarf warrior where Alister is king and my human noble where I am king...I wonder how the latter carries over.

When I played a human noble I had Alister killed in favor of Loghain and married his daughter. It showed Alister that his whinning ways are not tolerated in the GW order or Feraldon for that matter. I enjoyed Loghain as a NPC in the group. Morrigan and Sten both approved of the action. When I took Wynne and Leliana they both disapproved of the action. So if you kill Alister make sure you have the right group of it will hurt you with other NPCs.
