Here are today's Dragon Age forum highlights, taken from the Dragon Age Official Forum. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

    So, what about the dragons?

Well, Bioware isn't going after the L5R license, as truly awesome a game as it may be, but they have taken the step of hiring two former L5R writers if that makes your ears perk up at all. I'm working on Dragon Age right now, and while it's a very different world than Rokugan, I think you will find it just as complex, deep and cool. Rest assured, L5R fans will find plenty to love in Dragon age.

    What's wrong with sprites?

I'm not really arguing that Dragon Age should be sprite-based. I'm really just asking why all the sprite-hatin'? :p I don't see why the market is literally empty of them.

    No dev. who can comment?
Sprites don't scale very well, if you want to add new effects you're pretty much limited to either applying filters or making new art.

A sprite is a sprite, there's not really any way to reduce it's cost (except to remove it) when confronted with a situation where you have a lot of graphical load (this was a problem in BG2).

With 3D art there are oodles of things you can do to scale the cost of an asset (up and down).

The utility of 3D simply outweigh any potential gains from using 2D assets.
