As an old Atari ST fan, I am compelled to add that Speedball was also for the Atari ST before the PC port. I'm not sure which of ST or Amiga it came out for first though, but let's not turn this into an ST vs Amiga debate, heh

Getting back on topic, while I really enjoyed both Speedball and Speedball 2, my opinion is that the style and twitchiness of their gameplay wouldn't suit a game like DA. As far as difficulty of programming goes, the main contributor to the disk size of a game is not how easy or hard it is to programme, but how big the art and sound files are.

There certainly wouldn't be organized sport of any kind in the DA world, though there are some cultures that have spectator sports of various kinds.

Unless it's part of the story, however, it's not going to fit in very well. There are big events going on -- it's unlikely that one would stop to play in a speedball tournament or raise chocobos... or whatever.
