Here are today's Dragon Age forum highlights, taken from the Dragon Age Official Forum. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Bear in mind also that the posts presented here are copied as-is, and that any bad spelling and grammar does not get corrected on our end.

    Ceilings

NWN did not have ceilings on its areas not because it was impossible but because they were not needed... originally the viewpoint never changed from the overhead camera so you would never see those ceilings anyhow. Perhaps NWN2 is the same, I don't know, but that's why we did it. Even when we unlocked the camera later on, it was an optional feature.

    please make the game mature

This topic has come up before, and I'll say what I did then. There's a difference between including 'mature content' for the purposes of being realistic and adult and including it for the purposes of being exploitive and titillating.

We're aiming for a Mature rating, so we're not avoiding any mature content if it serves our purposes -- but neither do we intend to dwell on it or use it in a gratuitous fashion. If a whorehouse is called for by the story, there will be a whorehouse, and it won't be just to see jiggly bunny-suited women bouncing about the bordello.

And if there is, we'd have to make sure there are jiggly bunny-suited men bouncing about, as well. That way at least we'd be equal opportunity panderers.

And you were expecting? A graphic sex scene? A sex mini-game a la GTA? I wish in NWN we'd at least have been able to put the characters into bed together, but I think getting any more graphic than the "fade to black" would have been in bad taste -- especially for the Teen-rated title it was.

and a of topic question , will we get any mod tolls with the game, are we going to be able to mod the single payer campaign with it "like elder scolls" or it will be like nwn "custom campaign".
We'll have to wait and see exactly what form the tools take for Dragon Age. In the meantime, if toolsets are your thing there will definitely be NWN2 to play with -- and while I have no knowledge of its exact release date, it's bound to be out long before Dragon Age.

    Action RPG vs Traditional RPG

Jade Empire was what we refer to as an Action RPG. It focused a lot more on the action, which was perhaps more animation-driven than stats-driven, though it still had character advancement in it as well as a deep story with lots of dialogue. So I'm not sure I would call it "story-lite", just a change in focus.

Most games we make are more traditional RPG's, though even in that category there's plenty of room for people to have different definitions. Someone recently was saying that we didn't make RPG's at all because they weren't sandbox-style games where you could wander a simulated world at will. Your mileage may vary.

Dragon Age is not what we'd call an Action RPG. It's much more like a next-generation Baldur's Gate, with a party and a story style pretty similar to that. What you make of that is up to you, but to us the focus here is very much on the storytelling and not so much on the combat (not that there won't be plenty of that, too).

    New dragon age page

Nice! I wondered when that was going to go up. The out-of-date FAQ, as you might notice, is no longer up either.

As for Ferelden, yes, that is that name of the Kingdom where the game mainly takes place. The world is named something else (which isn't referred to very often, actually).

And the new information is also quite accurate, couched as it is in legendary narrator-speak.

I wouldn't worry about what's not listed on the website. They can't flesh out the entire game world in a couple of paragraphs. (I doubt they would want to either.)
That's quite true. There's a lot going on that is not mentioned -- including elves.

    More:

So are we going to be Fereldenites or Fereldenians, or Fereldenunians?
The adjective for Ferelden is actually Fereldan. So you are Fereldans.

    And what does Ferelden means?
Well, literally translated it means People's Valley. But the language the name is rooted in isn't spoken anymore.

Does that mean all dwarves live underground? or just those particular ones?
Just those particular ones... but the many dwarves who live on the surface are considered no longer part of the caste system and therefore beneath it.

Honestly, it's not worth waiting for a few years for 1 page of modified themes with a short description
No, it's not. Don't mistake this for a marketing blitz or anything. Like Gromnir said, there's nothing to get excited about... we're taking down the out-of-date info but we're still a long ways away from making a marketing push.

We're not asking anyone to hang around nor making any promises nor engaging in any hype. We announced that the project exists and the forums exist as a place to discuss it and make suggestions. Period, the end.
