hello, i am rather interested in trying out the game, both in its "original" (but patched and bugless, as much as possible, of course) and the Co8 version.

none of my local game shops seem to carry the game anymore so i was wondering if the trial version of the game where you can download, buy and unlock the full version was okay to play, or might it somehow cause some issues with mods or patches?

i vaguely remember reading a post a while ago on these boards where someone said that using a downloaded copy messed up a mod since it couldn't find a directory or something to that effect, although i might have imagined it. also, it seems to be selling for 30 dollars online through the trial version, although the website could very well be just un-updated. is this true? while that amount isn't out of my reach, shelling out that much when nwn2 is right around the corner is a little inefficient in my opinion.

finally, beyond patch 1 and 2 (and 3???), do i need anything else to play the original campaign as bug-free as possible? or will i need some other mods?

    thank you very much.

For patches at least, you should use patch 1 and 2, and Co8 mod.

Patch 3 only if not playing Co8.

[IMG] InfinitelyTrue, if you want to play around with mods and the regular patches, you should get the proper, box version of the game. The other one is almost certainly changed enough that most mods won't work with it.

Where do you live? In US and UK, you can still buy the game new via our store: http://www.sorcerers.net/Gamestore/index_pc_standalone.php

yep, i tried out the demo last night and liked it a lot, but i figured it wasn't the right version since i couldnt patch it.

just picked up a boxed copy from the amazon link in your site. :) hope it gets here soon!

p.s. if i want to go through the original campaign without the co8 mods first, will i run into a lot of those bugs mentioned by people on the forums even with the patches? or should i just jump right into the co8 version since, as far as i can tell, it's just more difficult version of the original campaign with few new things to do?

    ty!

The Co8 pack, if you install it fully, adds a lot of new things that impact the game significantly. I think that if you want to play as close to the original, but with as many fixes as possible, you should install the official patches, and only the fixes from the Co8 pack for your first run. Though I think that if you want to install all the Co8 fixes you have to select to have certain new content added along with them, so you can't install only the fixes and nothing else.

But still, some things in the Co8 pack are an optional install, so you don't need to install every single thing for your first run.

You pretty much have to choose yourself here. If you're going to go through the game at least twice, installing only the fixes the first time makes the most sense to me.

Most of the quests and such added by the Co8 patch are documented in the readme, so you could just read in there how to start them, and then you'll know exactly what not to do so you don't trigger them. Then you can get a bug-free experience without any of the extra stuff the patch adds.

[IMG] The downloaded version comes pre-patched through version 2. I spent forever trying to patch my downloaded version in order to play the CO8 mod.

After reading that the online version is prepatched on the CO8 boards, I just installed the mod and havent had problems. (with the mod anyways, you never know whats going to happen when you playing ToEE lol)
