England face Scotland in the Quarter finals of the Rugby Sevens world cup after topping our group. I haven't been able to see many games, unfortunately. But England VS Samoa was a tense, close game.
As usual, I expect NZ to win this tournament. They are a class apart. But wouldn't it be a good achievement for England to get back to back world cups in RU? Come on, get behind them ;) .

    Anyone else here watch Sevens??

On another note, Wales won the Six Nations today. Fair play to the, they are the one and only side who deserved to win it this year.

Sevens rugby is great fun. I love the way they can do a whole tournament in a weekend. It's great to go and watch live too, because of the party atmosphere.

The English sevens team is miles better than their 15-a-side embarrassment so they have every chance of winning this, especially as a sevens game can turn in the space of a few minutes. The English team has a lot of real pace out wide, even more than NZ.

I'll still be disappointed if NZ doesn't win, as they have been the form team in the sevens tournaments so far this year, but anything can happen.

And no, I am unlikely to be 'getting behind' the England team.......

On another note: Very well done to Wales. It's a great thing for world rugby for such a passionate rugby country to have a quality team once again. I hope that there are plenty of Welsh players in the upcoming Lions tour now rather than filling the squad with loads of has-been English boys.

Sevens seems dead unorganized, but it's very fast and tactical. I like watching it I do, it's just hard to find the games on TV. It's not all that big over here, really. I would love England to win, but it's hard to see past NZ.

The current England 15 side is nowhere near as bad as some people are trying to make out. We're not as good as we were a few years ago, for sure. But it is still a good side and improving all the time. We've had some torrid luck in this Six Nations. We'll bring it home next year, you wait. Take nothing away from Wales though, they fully deserved to win it. They have played some great rugby this tournament and have been due a win for a long time.

Wow, Fiji win again. They really are a fantastic country for Sevens rugby. Even though they beat us in the final, it's awesome to see arguably the greatest Sevens player in history (36 year old Waisale Serevi) play a role in their victory once again.

    Yeah, well done to Fiji.
They seem a very powerful bunch they do. Extremely impressive that the 36 year old Serevi is still showing the younger lads how it's done.
Ah well then, no back to back Rugby Union WC's for England :( .

I just hope now that Clive uses his head and picks the in-form players (i.e. Welsh and Irish) for the Lions tour rather than going with the mostly English team (plus Brian O'Driscoll) that would have been predicted after the World Cup. He's not still seriously considering the likes of Neil Back is he?

I can't see Neil Back getting in seeing as he has retired from international rugby. The likes of Josh Lewsey, Mark Cueto, Martin Corry and any other 2 or 3 out of our forward pack should be picked though. As should the likes of O'Driscoll, Stringer, Henson, Williams, Ste Jones (Wilko should NOT travel), the big bald 19 stone forward for Ireland (forget his name) etc. I think you'll see more Welsh and Irish in this squad, and rightfully so. But plenty of English boys should be in there aswell. Don't forget we lost to Wales, Ireland and France only by one score (mostly due to bad kicking and bad luck - but you make your own luck in rugby I suppose) so don't write us off as a team of complete has-beens. Far from it.

Well, you only won the World Cup by a point and I don't hear you going on about how that close result takes anything away from your victory.

Fact is, that you've lost to pretty much everybody in the two seasons since the World Cup.

I remember reading somewhere that Clive was planning on taking Back and Johnson on tour even though they had retired. I'm glad that nonsense has been put to bed. Shame about Wilkinson though - plenty of people here were looking forward to seeing him play.

Lions tour is going to be HUGE. Can't wait. Apparently there will be at least 20,000 Barmy Army yobbos hitting town for it. Bring it on!
