    Hi all,

I've only just recently started reading this forum, and this is my first post (so please forgive me if this has already been covered).

Anyway, I just noticed that the effects of Doom stack with themselves. I'm not sure if they do with greater malison (is there a way to tell since it doesn't work on party members?). I had Jaheira, Minsc, and Aerie cast Doom a couple of times each, taking Minsc's saves up to 20ish. I petrified him with a chromatic orb first try. Not bad for a level 1 cleric spell.

I've not taken her through the game before, but I assume that with Aerie you can place cleric spells in a sequencer / contingency. 3x Doom in a sequencer for Aerie would be a pretty good way to start a battle against a singe powerful monster (once you've destroyed magic resist, of course).

    Any thoughts / comments?

I have Aerie and can try putting doom in a sequencer. I'll try to use that more often and tell you what happens ;) Good job!

Actually, my DC/RC and Valygar have Doom too. So it can be a doom fest :D

Greater Malison should not work cumulative, though I have heard various reports of people who got positive experiences with having the enemy increase failed saving throws.

I haven't done some massive research so I still don't quite believe it. People might just have gone lucky. You could turn on dice rolls if you care to research it :)

I likewise have Valygar (but I'm still at the beginning, and he can't cast yet). Still, that makes 4 in the party that can / will be able to cast doom. 4x doom from those guys + greater malison from Jan + finger of death (well, with resists that bad, it may as well be chromatic orb) from my main (a sorceror) and it'd be a pretty quick death...

I just did some quick tests (i.e. hit Minsc with about 9 dooms). All his saves were taken to 20 (it seems they can't get worse than this). What I initially overlooked was the fact that it also gives a 2 point thac0 penalty, which is also cumulative, and didn't "cap-out" (i.e. poor Minsc's base thac0 was taken to 27). This is probably equally useful... nothing is going to hit you with a thac0 like that.

Casting time on Doom is pretty nice, too (manual says 1 round, but I'm pretty sure it's "instacast"). Valygar, Minsc and Jaheira could get one off while running in to melee.
