I'm thinking of getting a new computer, as the one I have is very slow and horrible.

I did a search and saw that some people have successfully used BG games on Vista, but what about 64 bit Vista?

Does anyone know whther it works on 64-bit vista???

To my experience it works just fine on vista 64 (although you might want to run it in XP compatibility mode). I have, however, read some reports from people who had difficulties getting it to run (at least smooth), so you might run into some problems depending on your hardware setup or whatnot.

Actually I haven't had problems with any of the Infinity Engine games on my vista 64 rig. Only issues I have had were graphics card related (and all these could be resolved through tweaking baldur.ini - if your new rig uses a newer Geforce card I'll be happy to help you fix any problems you may encounter).

Agreed - I have run BG2 and modded BG2 on a quad core/Vista x64 with a GX2 videocard. When you get your rig, though, take olimikrig up on the offer - it took some graphics tweaking to get rid of graphical oddities like balck boxes, screen flicker, and such. I had to download nHancer and play with the SLI and such, keeping to the 1024x768 setting (the bigg has some posts on various forums, too - and a mod to allow widescreen).

Yeah if you run SLI you definitely need to disable that in the games nvidia profile (or nhancer if you use that - which I would); furthermore all AA and the likes should be set to application controlled or completely disabled.

I actually got ToB to run fine in 1280x1024, cmorgan. Took a while and a couple of smashed keyboards to get it to work though :shake:.

You rock, man - and if you wouldn't mind sharing a profile, those keyboards will have given their lives up for the Greater Good, earning a place in Tech Heaven! :D i couldn't get higher resolutions stable.

    Sure: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=COL61QF2

This is what my baldur.ini looks like (keep in mind though that I'm not sure if all the things I enabled was really needed, I just enabled stuff, loaded BG2 to see if it worked, rinse and repeat until I didn't get black boxes on chunky deaths, fire, etc. anymore. To be honest I didn't have the slightest clue what I as doing :p):

A quick way to test if it works is just to make a game and teleport to the end of Irenicus' dungeon as the fight scene when you leave will pretty quickly show whether issues remain.
