Dodge and Mobility?

I've heard that it gives you AC bonuses, but disables the DEx bonus, and that 'racial' bonuses will be applied. Do any species actually have this?

Well, it seems like you don't really understand what you've heard (not really surprising, given the dubious documentation in the game).

The racial bonuses referred to are things like a gnome's special AC bonus against giants.

Dodge gives you a +1 to AC vs the creature you are attacking (or the nearest attacker if you aren't attacking anything). It does not interfere with your dex based AC bonus in any way. It is, however, disabled in the same circumstances that Dex bonuses are. When you are surprised, attacked by an invisible creature, or hampered by mobility restricting spells you are considered 'flat footed' and lose all dex, dodge, and similar AC modifiers.

Mobility gives you a +4 AC bonus only against attacks of opportunity. Of which there are very few applying to players at the default difficulty. Basically when you try to move past a hostile. This is also a dodge bonus, so its lost in the flatfooted cases as well.

So are you saying that mobility is worthless?

Depends on what you do - my pally has dodge and mobility and uses that advantage frequently - it enables him to walk through a horde of enemies to attack the spellcaster and such - really handy for a melee fighter.

And together with taunt and a decent AC he is well able to fight even a major baddie without getting hit :heh:

I use mobility as well, but I also play on 'core D&D rules', so I get opportunity attacked when drinking potions and other such stuff. Even without that, its pretty nice to be able to run past a bad guy to get to something else. There are plenty of cases where you want to reach a particular target in the backfield rather than getting bogged down with front rank goons. Mobility makes that safer.
