I've now (preparing to go to Dorns deep) amassed tons of protection scrolls and potions. The potion that gives 18 wisdom, potions of clarity, genius, free action, defense, strength, lots of explosive stuff and many many protective potions (insulation, absorbation, fire resistance and so on)
I never used any of this stuff in BG 1 and 2 so do I need in this game? Especially the wisdom potion. It was not much worth in BG but good in BG 2 when using the wish spell.

I would say if your style of play in BG1 and BG2 did not include them, you would never use them in IWD either...

Oh no - a potion horder. Fear not I used to suffer from the same problem. I would hold on to the potions and scrolls for the 'big fight' when they would turn the balance in my favor. Meanwhile, I would get beat on in battle after battle. I would win but only after many tries. Finally, I realized that the stuff is there to use. Use it and make winning easier. This simple rule makes life so much easier.

-The game is liberal with potions and scrolls. Using them won't make you lose.

If you don't use them sell them. Otherwise you are carting around all this stuff you don't need for will never use.

I been there too. There is hope. You can be cured.

God it was liberating to get rid of all this junk. I am free! Free! Muhahahaha...ahem.
Yeah in both BG 1, 2 and Planescape I hoarded a lot of stuff around for the the
"big fight"...and then I forgot all about it in the exitement.
On the other hand your strategy skills are refined when you try to beat the monsters without. I can't wait to try this one:
You make a character invulnerable to fire and move him/her behind enemy lines using stealth. Then the horde attacks and my mage casts aganazars scorcher on the other character, who moves back and forth hittin the enemies again and again.
AHAHAHAHAHA! IT'S GREAT TO PLAY EVIL!
