the damage system is derived from the pen & paper d%d games where dice are rolled to determine the damage a weapon does to an enemy. 1d6 means that one 6-sided die is rolled to determine damage and that the damage is thus randomly chosen in a range between 1 and 6. 2d6 means that two 6-sided dice are rolled and that the damage is randomly chosen between 2 and 12. to answer your question, this means that 2d6 does twice as much damage as 1d6.

btw, p%p d%d uses (normally) 6 different dice: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12 and d20. the number behind the 'd' just represents the number of sides the die hasd

    Basicly in Diablo terms....

1d6 means 1 - 6 damage. This does not include damage increases due to strenght critical hit ect.

    2d6 means 2-12 damage.
    1d8 means 1 - 8
    2d8 means 2-16
    ect.
