Somewhat inspired by the "getting on your nerves topic", I want to know what makes y'all really depressed. I noticed that people were beginning to list things that made them miserable rather than annoyed them in the aforementioned topic, so I thought I'd help them out...

For me, 'tis...

- Listening to REM
- Listening to Aerosmith
- Screen 4 at our local cinema
- The Subway under the science museum in London
- A grassy knoll in my friend's garden
- Watching the 11 year old kids smoking outside school
- Saying goodbye
- Finishing anything
- Young love

...and many more. What a miserable sod I am.

Things that depress me...
When my friends are upset or don't like me.
Failing at things I feel I should be able to do.
Being odd.
Being disliked in general.
Being forgotten by those who should remember me.
Visiting places I remember and being unable to do what I used to there.
Being treated like a psycho.
Being told I am not allowed to do something I enjoy doing anymore.
My mothers b/f depresses me.
Doing things that annoy people and not being told so I can change it.
Being misunderstood.
People and Pets dying.

 

Love never depresses me.

 

Life plus:
Lack of coffee modifier

Lack of computer access modifier

 

Thinking about my latin marks really depresses me

On topic:

8 year olds with mobile phones

 

- When I'm on a party and sees 12 year old drunk kids. That's depressing!

- When my mother says that I cannot do a thing that I really want to do...

- When someone ignores you, and meant it!

 

@Apeman: I keep trying to revive the "Small Happinesses" thread, in an effort to make us aware of all the little things that go RIGHT every day.

Not much truly depresses me. To me, that's an extreme state of dejection and hopelessness, and I just don't ever get that down-in-the-dumps. Sure there are plenty of things that sadden me, but true, there's-no-point-to-getting-out-of-bed depression? I've never been there, not even over poor grades or not being allowed to do things when I was a teenager.

So what makes me sad?
* Child abuse or neglect
* Wasted opportunities
* Medical Stuff

 

Rally, the small happinesses lost their impact. I need a few medium-to-large sized happinesses to turn this ship around!

Depression comes from so many personal sources that I couldn't list them here or you'd all stop respecting me! (half kidding)

For me, depression is kinda like an old scar. Its always lingering, it just doesn't hurt all the time...but when the weather is right, it sure aches.

 

For me it would be:

• Love (the bad side eg. just split up)
• When the girl i like is with someone else and well ... yeah
• School
• Sad songs when i'm generally sad
• Lonliness
• Parents
• Not being with the person i love (if applicable)

- Being built up with terrific hope, then being shot down with the machine gun of rejection.

 

The FLyers being eliminated from the playoffs

Having a character in ALFA die after playing him for 2 weeks.

Any album by Morrissey or the SMiths

Being Morrissey or any band member from the Smiths

the last chocolate chip cookie

failed dreams and aspirations

waking up alone

waking up with someone that annoys you

failing a bar exam

passing a bar exam but unable to find a job that pays well or gives any satisfaction

cutting off your arm after you've been pinned under a rock in the mountains for 3 days

 

They generally improve the moment you stop caring at all.

 

Exams.

Today we had 2 really difficult ones. and the worse thing was that we will get bad marks on things we weren't even taught on a paper meant for the year ahead.

life sucks.

 

Or you end like me, getting kicked out of latin classes. Which made life way more easier and agreeable.

But then they tortured me with economics.

 

for me it's the "what if?" factor. things i could have done but didn't, things i did but shouldn'd have, and the constant question am i doing the right thing now? i guess i'll never know and that's even more depressing.

If they would kick me out of Latin, I would be thrown out of school. And my parents would than ... to horrible to imagine
