[IMG] Ahh, music. Everyone has their favorite. My favorite aspect of music is going to see it played live. It's such a great experience to be present when your favorite band is playing your favorite song...right in front of you! Beats a CD any day. :rolling:

Sadly however, due to certain circumstances (drug abuse, obsessed fans, ham sandwiches) certain musical icons leave this world, forever robbing us of the chance to see them play live. Sure, bands break up, but there are always reunion tours to look forward too. Death tends to be a bit more permenant (unless you're Kieth Richards...any man who's that bombed out has to be a zombie...).

Luckily, I've invented a Magical Mystery Musical Time Machine that allows you to travel back in TIME! Who knew I was a mechanical genius? :borg:

There's only one catch: you can only travel back in time to see one concert by one band or artist that no longer exists, and can't ever again. No replacement-member abominations, no tribute concerts, only the real deal. You can go back as recent as Kurt Cobain, or as far back as Mozart.

I'm putting the itinerary together now. First stop (mine): Queen, any concert during the early 80's. To see "Bohemian Rhapsody" played live would fill a black void in my soul.

    Next stop?

I'd love to see Muddy Waters. And the Doors.

Spamming is easy, just do it.

And who the hell was taken by a ham-sandwich ?

According to legend, Mama Cass of "The Mamas and the Pappas" died when she choked on a ham sandwich. She actually had a heart attack, but that's not as funny.

And what is "Spamming is easy, just do it." supposed to mean?

Is this code for something? Seems like it should be in Random Babbling.

Anyways, back on topic - Miles Davis would be my choice.

    @ Seph

While I agree - I wanted to see that, too :( - it doesn't really count, and my Time Machine can't go there. ;) Neither are dead, so theoretically there could be another performance. Is there anyone you'd like to see who fits the above criteria? If you're an original line-up Metallica fan, you could go with a Metallica concert back on the "Ride the Lightning" tour, when Cliff Burton was still alive. That would count, I think.

Queen or John Lee Hooker. I love Queen, but their concerts were always crowded. John Lee Hooker was a blues visionary and great musician. I have seen Queen live performances (not really live, but on tv), but I never even saw John Lee Hooker sing (except in Blues Brothers).

I'll go back in time to see John Lee Hooker.

    Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock.
After that, probably the Doors or Spirit.

My first choice would be Uriah Heep with David Byron in the vocals in the period 1970-1976. As for my second choice, the one and only Rory Gallagher. Unfortunately, when he played in Athens in 1980, I was just six years old  .

i don't know, either any of adult Mazart's performances or one of those breath taking performances by Liszt.

On second thought, Mozart is nice but for the sake of performance, Liszt beats him by miles.

Led Zeppelin, sometimes between 1972 and 1973....
When I see them on video I shiver, I wonder what would have been to be there live....
