The new album totally rocks! Well I say ROCKS, it should really be RAPS, but anyway, whoever says the Skulls CD is better than the Bones CD is talking out of their ar*e.

Floyd and Zeppelin are great, Zeppelin being my favorite band in the whole wide world, but we can't let a post on music, especially one mentioning Floyd and Zeppelin go without a posting on the Dead. Jerry lives!

There you go, Jerry is THE best Guitarist ever. Man i got some good early Dead w/ Pigpen singing and Jerry just rockin some Blues riffs. Sweet stuff.

    Psychoalphadiscobeta...

    Ever hear Parliament's Aqua Boogie?

I'm with you on the blues, Wingfoot, though I don't think I'd be so bold as to try and name the best guitarist ever. Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Hendrix, SRV, Bonnie Raitt, Mark Knopfler, Bobby Baker, Keith Richards, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Frank Zappa, George Harrison, Jimmy Page, Ron Wood, Mike Campbell, and yes, Mr. Garcia are all definite candidates.

Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepperd, and Susan Tedeschi all hold a fair deal of weight as well. What's the name of the lead guitarist in Widespread Panic?

well Grey you list some great guitarists there, except for Keith Richards. dont think he is very good compared to anyone in that list.

Duanne Allman was damn good and Dickey Betts is still good. Jimi Hendrix was good, but too much of a show off as are most of the guitarists you listed. Jerry is the best IMHO because he could play so many different styles of music almost without thinking about it. or so it seems. he could be in the middle of a country phsychodelic jam and then slide right into blues just like that. listen to the last 4 minutes of the version of 'That Same Thing' on the So Many Roads collection if you can and you'll hear what i'm getting at.
the key to him being the best though is this... he wasn't a show off at all. he just played. no flashy clothing and no prancing around on stage like he was God's gift to the world. like i said before, he just played.
